I kinda like the reading mode in yandex though. It feels lighter and the ad blocking seems better.

It update the security patch to Aug 1. 318 has security dated May 1 (I think). So if security patch is important to you then go update. Else, don't really need to update as there are nothing much in terms of features or performance update.

Yeah...what were they thinking adding Atok and Yandex. They want to make money off doing this as the phone itself is not making them money as they had to sell it cheap.

ahh, i used this when i first gotten my phone
now, let me do it again rolleyes.gif

update:
finish uninstalled, since adb dy might as well install gcam
gd guide in the faq, thanks attw, azhar and Rok

now playing with gcam, lense blur need to move camera up??? different from slider in asus cam, but after take picture can adjust the blur further thumbup.gif

Poco for me. After more than a month using this phone, my conclusion is besides the battery life, nothing else about the Zenfone Max Pro M1 is appealing (except the price, but that is if you bought the 3/32 one @ RM599)

The performance over price for this phone is worth it. Still can play lots of games without issues.

It seems this method doesn't really remove the apps but completely disables them and denies them data/playstore access. The storage space used remains the same and the only real improvement is freer RAM - so they say.

See the interesting arguments here. biggrin.gif

Still, I think it's a good idea, at least where memory and/or data/power usage is concerned. A good way to determine if this really works is to check storage space before and after app deletion.

For now, I'm hoping Asus will come to their sense and wipe out the damned bloatware with the next OTA update. If not, the no root method is the way to go.

From wut ive read there not much impression on the PocoF1 camera side probably the Note 5 Ai got a better pictures . The night outdoor alot of noise .

The pro side for PocoF1 will be a good for gaming , 10 to 12 SOT and might be less on gaming SOT .

Me too. And Chrome interface is more user-friendly. At least for me.

But i do like Yandex add-on adblocker as it works almost all the time.

I have removed Atok but the icon is still there. However, if I try to run it, I will get error. So means it is already removed.

Might help if you force stop and uninstall it manually first - via Settings -> Apps while first clearing the cache and app data, before using the adb method.

Or else, rebooting your phone might help with losing the icon.

Nope. In fact, after the second full charge and complete drain, battery life seems to be improving.

Just got 5 days + and more than 17 hrs SOT on a single charge - with no third party power saver/data throttling apps except the on board data saver.

You probably need to calibrate your battery by running it dry and recharging it in off mode a few times.

I think 599 is probably the lowest they'll go for the 3/32 one but there'll be loads of vouchers available for download. It's a matter of getting the maximum discount voucher that would be entitled for it.

So far I only purchased one phone last time... The delivery is super late compared to others... Should be within 48 hours for Klang Valley but I received on Day-5 (Ordered on Monday received on Saturday).

I bought couple of times for friends.
Yes, packing is bad. Zero protection with courier flyer only.
Delivery is slow but will arrive eventually.
Not sure but maybe try contact seller if can self collect?
All xiaomi phones bought are ori my set.

No never test the unit before but i have a trust on Asus mobile coz they sturdy, not easy to get broken coz my bro Asus Laser dropped many time and still good till now, and Asus focus sales on india, they knew Indian people kind of tough etc biggrin.gif , so they make the mobile material abit harden, well the circuit board and layer is very sensitif tho .

Basicly i need a good battery backup aka SOT, GPS, GAMING, radio, gyro, a good camera, loud speaker & equalizer for ear pieces.

MhL, & aptX Bluetooth, IR, NFC should be a bonus lol

M1 3gb/32gb rm599 is a beast, i wish that 4gb/64gb will be less then the currently offers.

I just wait the 9/9 promos, will see a big hope probably rclxs0.gif

If you run loads of apps, multitask and game occasionally then defiantly the Pocophone is a no brainer. The M1 is a Mid-ranger with a SD636 and simply pales in direct comparison to the SD845 especially if you plan to run 3D intensive apps or games.

DIY if wanna use contactless payment... Get TPU transparent case and slot the card inside the case... Just ensure to cover the CVV codes with tape...

Else, can use velcro tape to attach at the casing.. Ensure the velcro tape does not cover the magnetic strip and chip...

But, better use normal purse as risky to lost mobile device with credit card(s) in one shot.... or slot cash like me...LOL...

Guys, how do I remove the clock from the lock screen?

I already have an xperia style digital clock on my home screen and I don't need another one on my lock screen (I also wear a cheap G-Shock that tells me the time without having to tap on my phone..LOL!).

Every time I try to change the lock screen type from clock to photo frame/table (to match my pitch black wallpaper app), I get the "app fails" notification or some kinda message to that effect. I even tried uninstalling the pitch black wallpaper app temporarily but the option to remove the lock screen clock and replace it with a simple deep black HD image doesn't work. I even turned the screen saver off but the damn clock refuses to get off the lock screen. confused.gif

Note 9 and M1's battery life really got so much difference ? Anyway I bought M1 because of the following points :

1) Value for money
2) 5000 mAH battery
3) 2 sim cards slot and 1 independent
memory card slot.
4) Screen looks more vibrant than RN5.
( because I compare them side by side
on the spot ) 😀

Try Naptime, bro. I guarantee you'll not be disappointed. I confirmed the deep sleep with GSam battery monitor. It really does make a difference to standby drain with Aggressive Doze. Compared it with Greenify's AD and found Naptime performed much better.

Btw, you guys see any improvement with the auto brightness issue with this latest update?

Nope. No root required. Just need to input 2 adb commands via PC, after enabling developer options and USB debugging. The steps and commands are described on the site itself.

I am not so convinced cause the issue is limited by the hardware they use. Try using it for a week or two and see if the fingerprint still good.

Guide to installing and running Naptime, with Aggressive Doze for great standby time (for those who don't know it already) - C & P from XDA.

6gb should be pair w. Sd660 + adreno 512, that will make alot of diff, adreno 509 is quite weak actually and would qaste the 6gb in term of gaming brows.gif

I believe it's due to VoLTE implementation in the latest OTA. Try to switch to 3G only to see positive effects.

I have just tested mi a2 camera and compare to rn5 , i like rn5 camera , color look nature, the mi a2 camera color seem over saturated oops.gif

Upgraded to latest firmware 326 and updated Magisk to 17.1.

I have to say, I am impressed by the improved fingerprint detection. However, I also suspect that it is the one causing battery drain as reported by someone here. I will monitor the battery drain and report later.

Ordered around 1 am during the 9.9 flash sale and received it yesterday in the evening. I know many people have been complaining about the lack of discounts on lazada but their efficiency together with asus for this product was on point!

Phone came with lots of protective bubble wrap and air pouches,hence even the box was in immaculate condition thumbup.gif

Sorry bro, I don't game, maybe someone else can assist? But if you search on YouTube, you'll see plenty of people not having much problems with games on this phone due to the SD636 processor. Maybe go for 4GB or 6GB RAM to be safe.

32GB eMMC 5.1 storage will be the biggest enemy for gamers. Also, loading time for each game will be about 5 - 10 seconds slower than UFS 2.1 storage...

In terms of games compatibility in the PlayStore, so far, all games are compatible... Unlike some Snap845 devices, certain games like PUBG and Asphalt 9 is not listed in PlayStore...

Any phones can gaming... it's which game title that is important...some games are not well optimised for certain SoC and GPU... But UFS 2.1 is definitely hiccup free to load and run the game no matter how heavy the game is....

Mine works fine. But I use TWRP to patch the full firmware. After that re-apply the root and camera2api. All works fine. This firmware 326 is quite good. Felt the UI to be smoother but I think it's just me. smile.gif

facing 2 frustating issue.
1) gps works normally when you start to drive. after driving like 3 minutes, gps signal lost and always show searching for gps. after driving for another 10 minutes, it came back . then 3 minutes later, lost signal again, keeps going on and on everytime.

check with all the gps app and fixes app on play store, cant find any problem.


2) when you are playing games on ur phone, whenever there is a phone call coming in, the phone will lose mobile internet for one minute, whether you accept the call or decline thecall or simply ignore the call.

is it normal?

1) Seems like issue with the antenna on your phone. Probably fault antenna. Get warranty for it.

2) If not mistaken, this is common issue with non LTE broadband. 3G will have this kind of issue on all phones.

All I can say is they are not like in the early years... The cashback rate has been reduced a lot especially for electronics items... Last time was 9% cashback but now only 1%...

Last time can create many dupe accounts but now they can detect these dupe accounts & block the account from getting cashback...

Like our bro mentioned above, the cash back on electronics have been substantially reduced these days so much so I hardly use it unless I'm buying something over RM1000 or more. Using it for travel like hotel bookings is still OK, about 6% to 9% rebate. Getting the payout though is an exercise in patience.

Not yet... Someone in NinjaVan needs to be sacked... The parcel seems to be "lost"... But after I showed all the evidence to Laz, only yesterday the parcel reached at Lazada warehouse.

The problem when returning thru NinjaVan is that at the "Return Label" form, it clearly stated what is the item in the parcel. So, if anyone sees this Return Label & knows the item in it, for sure the parcel will lost...

2) When the pick-up guy arrived, we have to sign a form together with the guy's signature. Take a pix if this panel.
3) After both parties signed, ask the pick-up guy to WhatsApp the screenshot of the status of pick-up. This will reveal the pick-up guy's WhatsApp number and also the time and date of the pick-up status.

All the above will act as an insurance if anything happens during the return process.

You can, but connect to the 2.4GHz band if you're using a dual band router.

First, ensure to set the router to emit both 2.4GHz & 5GHz Wi-Fi bandwidth.

Next, ensure for 2.4GHz, the Wi-Fi Channel is set to either Channel 3, or Channel 6 or Channel 10 (depending on interference in your house). For my M1 and my router, Channel 10 gives the best result...

After changed the Channel, restart both router and M1.

My mum set has battery issue...
Unable to charge and stuck at same percentage for long time...
Need to shut down then only able to charge normally...
Is this battery issue?
Where to claim warranty?
On the other hand the unit my dad using works perfectly even it's 1 month older....
Suspect my mum got lemon unit

Not for my unit...perhaps the USB cable or Adapter is faulty...try to use ur dad's adapter & cable ...if after hard reset still the same, it's time to claim warranty....

I believe there is certain batch from Made in China facing this issue...

My unit was on batch "August 2018" from EIN... So, that's why Laz did not proceed with REPLACEMENT becoz they know many buyers facing the same issue on the camera...

Perhaps those getting the September batch will get a proper camera modules...

Yeah, confirm fingerprint issue fixed. Even I am skeptical about the fix but after using for 1 week, confirm it is working fine now. 9/10 times it works now.

For casual gaming and good battery life, I would think a new 4GB/64GB one would be sufficient. It was going for RM799 yesterday at Lazada flash sale.

If you insist on a 6GB one though, you can probably get a new one for about RM930 or RM950 and personally I wouldn’t buy a used one just to save RM150 or so. But that’s my personal opinion smile.gif

If second hand unit, ensure to have official receipt and all accessories in the box.

As for gaming, look at YouTube channels for FPS performance on the M1.

A few important criteria when mobile gaming is no. 1 priority are:
1) FPS.
2) Touch screen responsiveness (iPhone X "R"etarded has 120Hz touch input).
3) Screen quality (HDR, AMOLED, IGZO, etc).
4) Screen brightness in direct sunlight.
5) Sound quality.
6) Heat management for prolong gaming.
7) Energy supply.
8) Broadband and Wi-Fi performance.
9) Weight and ergonomic.
10) Bluetooth controller compatibility.
11) Gyro and proximity sensors.
12) AR Core support for future game titles.

M1 is average for all the above except item no. 1, 10 and 12 which is subjective and yet to be discovered.

Alternative to M1 is definitely Redmi Note 5i and second hand Poco...

IMHO the 6GB version for this phone is not worth it, since this is just a lower midrange phone with an SD636 chip. Apps won't be able to fully utilize that extra RAM due to already being bottlenecked by the mediocre chip not to mention the extra amount of RAM is going to affect your overall battery life. The only advantage for that extra RAM is if you somehow want to retain yours apps being open while consistently multitasking, lots of users are commenting that even having 6GB on phone such as the Oneplus 6 is kinda of a overkill unless you are some kinda of developer who found ways to create some custom ROM or app to use those extra memory.

For me the sweet spot for a phone with specs such as this would be the 4GB variant. Or if your budget is a little over 1k then the Poco F1 or Honor Play is much more worth it at around 1.2k. The chip on both of these phones have no problem of even running Wii console emulator on Android with consistent 60FPS. cool2.gif

Don't recommend Mediatek SoC. Only for casual users who don't know difference between Mediatek and Snapdragon. Personally I will never get a Mediatek phone.

The last update was superb though. It fixed the fingerprint scanner issue once and for all. But some say at the expense of the battery life.

I can't really confirm on the battery life part as i hasn't been using this phone that much these days. It just sits idle among some other phones that i bought for my personal user experience testing.

Even sacrifice a bit battery life for a smooth fingerprint experience , I will definitely said it is worth it. After all , the 5K battery life can last for 2 days .

That is too big. I don't like to carry a brick. Around 5" - 5.5" is best for me. Even this Asus M1 is a bit big for me liking. My favourite is still the iphone 6s 4.7" form factor.

Guys, found a way to enable Electronic Image Stabilisation in the default app. This is how.

1) Open the stock camera app
2) Click on settings
3) Go down to red eye reduction and tap on it until a notification comes up saying something on the lines of you are entering additional settings.
4) Switch to video mode
5) Make sure you are shooting at less than 4k.
6) You may now toggle the Image Stablization option in the settings.

If you need to revert back to stock setting menu:
Please clear the app data & cache.

Nope... This M1 cannot challenge our epic LeMoto P2 for the Super AMOLED and other nifty features built inside the stock LeMoto ROM... Only cam this M1 can replace LeMoto P2...

No point getting 6GB becoz the price difference is a lot (in Malaysian Ringgit...)... Besides, the Snap636 will be replaced by 710 next year and then we feel this 6GB is "old"...

In my opinion the 4GB is value for money too, coz you're getting additional 1GB RAM, double the storage capacity and a better camera setup. But from 4GB to 6GB, the difference is just the additional 2GB RAM. Everything else similar to the 4GB variant.

6gb seem to be a gimmick for mid-range processor, they should be pair with sd700 series on my opinion, sd700 series with out the UFS2.1 (fast storage) also seem to be acceptable for the current gaming title .

Looks "strengthening system stability" also included a patch for the auto brightness glitch.

Screen brightness fade in/out seems to be more gradual/dynamic, stable and consistent now.

Now, my eyes have a chance to get uncrossed. What a relief!

Yup. Do that. It feels normal now. I disabled auto mode, set brightness to 50% max and then enabled auto again and adjusted to 50% again. Seems to be working well.
