opteron X2 is in Am2 yes...
but they dont call it opteron no more unless its for the servers
they call it by the chipset name i.e. Santa Ana
haha

but opteron 939 is the best...
i'd take it over the Xeon now (well not the quad core Xeon)
but Xeon had been taking the End users in storm as well
hahaha

They call it Opteron X2 in AM2? hmm.gif

As far as i know, those dual core Opterons are still known as Opteron. No changes in name. Only their code differentiate them. At least in the Socket 939 side. The lowest dual core Opteron is 165 while those that are having the code 14X are all single cores..Besides that, Opteron 165 and above all have 2MB L2 Cache..

In term of overclocking ability, without a doubt it should be the FX series, mainly FX60 for having unlocked multiplier etc. Therefore, this should be the most powerful..The highest for X2 is X2 4800+ and i am not too sure about the Opteron series. Should be 190. Take your pick from there..

Besides, in comparison with the Opteron 939 and Xeon, there is alot..First of all, there is 2 Opteron series, mainly for servers alone (Socket 940) and a Socket 939. The difference between Xeon and Socket 939 Opteron is, Xeon need all those server graded stuff (AFAIK) like server mobo, server ram etc while S939 Opteron, you could simply use back all the S939 stuff that was generally made for desktop users..Way cheaper i guess..

Try BULK orders. If they dont have it there, i guess you got no choice but to get them from overseas. AFAIK, the FX is more expensive..

I've also been searching for x2 4800+ (939) but can't find any. I've seen somebody selling this proc 2nd hand for rm 999!!!

There are forumers bulking it in bulk section but the highest is only x2 4200+. Elhh82 is bulking both the x2 4200+, x2 3800+ and the opteron models.......

well fx series multiplier unlock provides u quite some advantage in terms of OC...........
