I have my own condo unit at Cheras C180 and my mom house located at Pandan Indah.
However, most of the time i will stay at my mom house instead of my own house because my mom helps to take care my children. I am not going back to C180 there during weekdays as it takes at least 30 minutes to reach my house from my mom house and to go out early morning is really killing me as you all know the traffic at Jalan Cheras. rclxub.gif And i only back to my own house on weekend, somemore not every weekend.

Therefore, I plan to get a new property which located at Pandan Indah because of below few reasons:
a) Nearer to my mom house
b) Location wise nearer to KL
c) Planning for second baby (Parent house got no more room)

It is slightly smaller condo unit yet more expensive than my current condo, means i need to fork out extra money for the installment. My mom advised me not to sell C180 condo there as it is bigger unit, not so 'chap' and of coz she don't want i get too burden with the extra installment money. She did mentioned that I still can go back to Cheras C180 house and learn get used to the traffic jam sweat.gif

I would like to seek for your kind advice whether should i make a move to get the condo near my mom hse or just stay at C180 there in the future?

Thanks for the advice.

Actly my wife also not encourage because she feel that the property at Pandan Indah way too expensive and will burden me. I did ask her what is her plan for the future? She is still unsure and said we still can stay at C180. By the way, she got no car means she is not driving. dry.gif so she wont know the torture of traffic jam. But i do agree that it will burden me but i am thinkin on our future. so i am dunno is a right move for us or not sad.gif

Of course property price in KL will be higher price VS a similar property in Balakong area.

And it is not wrong to rent. You dont have to burden yourself with a 30 - 35 years long loan. Renting of course will cost you less monthly. No need pay for maintenance fees, cukai, etc. Just make better use of the money you save up via renting VS owning the property.

Based on the bolded part,
Might as well stay together all year long.

Extra house, extra loan interest, extra maintenance fees, extra travel (cost petrol a couple thousand per year)
House is a liability to start with, so one needs to think whether really needs the house or not.

But if one has no financial constraint, and lot of disposal income, then never mind, different story.

Also, do consider kids grows up and schooling time can have different situation and needs for parenting/travelling.

Anyway, it is more about personal issue then, no right or wrong.

It will be good to stay together all year long but due to space limitation at my parent house, it makes the whole thing tough for us if i plan for second baby. Definitely got no rooms to stay on. That's trigger me to find a new property near to my parent hse + near to kl as well.

but still i am not sure whether is this a rational move or not. sad.gif

Think this way, is the time and cost spent in the jam can offset the cheaper property at your current place? Or willing to pay more but save in term of everything (less jam, nearer to family, more time together at home rather than on the road, etc..)
Same as people from johor and work in sg, is the time and cost of travelling daily to and forth sg and jb justifiable of some saving in higher rental fee in sg?

It is about $$, time and travelling

List down pro/cons in between, list out financial situation etc, which at least have some guidance for the decision making.
Outsiders won't understand the situation better than yourself. smile.gif

Rent/buy next door to your parent also is an option.

Don't limit yourself into buying a property, renting sometimes can be a good option (cheaper alternative), as situation may change years down to road, whereby one may need to move again time.

Agree. Good advice.

I would opt for renting first. It's much easier to exit compare if you buying new property
As when u buy your first property, not knowing what could happen in the future (end up more time at parent house), similar situation could happen if you commit to buy new property.
