Husband has cough for the past whole month. After the 3rd round of doctor visit and medicines, he has reduced coughing. But he's feeling slight pain when taking a very deep breath. Is it normal during recovery from cough? For me, I don't remember the same issue.
He did mentioned to the 3rd doctor about the pain, but was dismissed as normal. He does not have any fever or other symptom.

QUOTE(Captain1 @ Aug 24 2018, 02:15 AM) After three doctors, I suggest you suggest to him to seek alternative consultation. It worked for me. However he must decide to complete present course of treatment or abandon it and take up more effective treatment. While my or anyone's suggestion does not substitute official medical advise. Also consider the possibility some doctors are not competent. Example, the third doctor brush off the pain. Did he/she properly diagnose what are posible cause and in relation to other present health status. Hence, the suggestion to consider alternative consult. He had finished the cough medication. Alternative consultation as in respiratory specialists?

Getting Started

|
You should consult a different doctor. It never hurts to see a new one. You should continue the medication until you see the new one. You should take care of him. Make sure that he is not working too hard. Also, advise him to not run or do any sort of cardio until complete treatment.

Coughing for one month and pain when breathing in.
TB should be suspected already. But of course many other lung diseases share the same symptoms.
TB is highly infectious and he could spread to you and your family members around. So, it's best to get some tests done to rule this out.
TB patients have always reported that their cough decreases at certain times and increases intensely over the weeks.
Some of the tests that should be done if the cough still doesn't go away completely.
1. X-ray 2. Sputum test
That can be done with minimal fee of RM1 at your nearest govt clinic. If the GP suspected it's TB after looking at his x-ray, he will refer to GH.
Then u get the Tuberculin skin test at GH.

Better check it out in hospital? My aunt was coughing non stop for a month until she can't even sleep. Went to a specialist (hospital) and found out that her lungs had a very bad infection.

QUOTE(lowlowc @ Aug 30 2018, 06:21 PM) If you have children, convince him that you do not want them to be infected. And you do not want to be infected too. It's selfish on his part not to go to the hospital to check it out.

When he see cost of dying is so pricey and all the money in the account, he will spend it in healthcare LOL No.. I use calculator to calculate his insurance, epf etc etc and told him I will happily use the money and get a young boyfriend after he died. New bf will sleep on his bed and our baby will call him 'daddy' He went to clinic this morning. He got a more detailed doctor this time who gave him 3 days antibiotic and if still no improvement, he will undergo x-ray. But as hubby has no fever, chills, loss of appetite and weight loss, doctor said should be fine. Just hope the antibiotic helps. This post has been edited by lowlowc: Sep 1 2018, 06:20 PM
