Since you so badly needed it, just get it, no point asking bout depreciation of a used car and maintenance, everyone knows is definitely going to be more expensive than a Jap, research here and there can roughly give you a figure of how much it cost for replacing parts/servicing etc etc..

That also if you are confident that your 2nd and 3rd source of income won't screw up in the near future and assuming you have a big pile of cash in your bank

That's exactly what I did when I was 22, loan myself a big bike, buy a brand new iphone just so I can have fun with my life. Little did I know, my desire is about to change. I dont like the bike anymore, but I still have some more years before I can finish my loan. I have to pay for its servicing, spare parts, insurance, etc and holy molly they're super expensive especially for something that I dont like anymore. A new iphone comes months after that, then I realize i dont have the latest iphone.. i just wasted money buying it.. all these nonsense mindset comes to me because of buyers remorse.. then my new girlfriend comes along, i need money for her and travelling, etc.. im just wondering what if i dont spend that much money when I was 22.. could have save it for future..

yeap, just change the circuit board or use rollback software. If it's a local BMW then at least you can cross check with maintenance booklet.

just sharing, when I was a freshie, those premium brands were super tempting when you have nothing else to spend on (family etc). Also with 9 year loan, anything below RM500k would be in reach  Still remember A6 Hybird was ~RM300k which seemed like a super good deal at the time

Eventually I settled for a used murano @ RM40k (mainly for the keyless entry, at that price no other car had it back then). Was just a car to get me from A to B. Colleagues were getting new VW's , Civic's etc ... didn't make me exactly envious, but they looked like they had more $$ to spend !

Now 5 years later, glad I chose what I did. It's a dull drive, but at least it's reliable. No car loans (calculate how much a bank earns) and with what I saved I still have the option to get a better car. If I'd gotten something "nice" back then, I wouldn't be looking forward to new car launches anymore

I feel pity on you. The way you think is like you're only having FD in your acc and nothing else left. Even u makan also need to take out your FD for the bill, and then send the money back to ur FD acc.

TMI..... I'm still earning and probably same or higher as yours. You're just having what you have at your age. Don't jealous because I'm younger and having whatever you don't when you're 20s. Woops... You can't afford it when you're 20s doesn't mean everyone don't.

bro... careful for what u wish for. some people earning 150k+ a year still is finding hard to make ends meet, while some earning 60k+ a year is living happily.

U can be smart in earning money, but can't spend wisely.. no difference.

personally, i only buy my car cash. From what i see, if you can't afford a car cash, you can't afford it at all. A car is the 2nd highest purchase in life,after a house..  and it is one of the most depreciating item. On paper, it a luxury car should be a NEED, not a necessity....

Sad to say that quite a lot of younger generations nowadays cannot take criticism the hard way....must be worded with a positive twist to not hurt the feelings directly.....but then the lesson just won't stay in the mind for long because it is taken lightly due to the positive twist.....

But whatever la.....it is his money, his car, his life.
Like the "elder" mentioned, SAP back end side is a small world. Although i don't have full details of SAP back end side of things, but from my interactions with those in such roles, it is quite true in local context. Won't be a nice impression if either met each other some day.
