QUOTE(sp6068 @ Aug 22 2018, 11:38 PM) Looks like a mix between MIUI and OxygenOS The notch something that I'm going to get used to - although thankfully it can be turned off I'm really considering this one since my Motorola's battery is on its last legs This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Aug 23 2018, 12:34 AM

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 23 2018, 12:58 AM) Like I said, normal folk never really use it anyway lol, so it probably won't matter. 845/8GB does though. I personally need NFC though to check the balance on my Icoca/Suica cards (amongst many other things), but I'm not looking for a new phone anytime soon myself lol. Just sticking around to see the ongoing results of Xiaomi's interesting little (which is actually what Poco means in Spanish) experiment here. That said that launcher is pretty dope though. Categorising apps by colour? That's some crazy shit right there Xiaomi and I like it. Even I don't even use that feature much on my Motorola... Perhaps it might be useful on Samsung Pay or one-touch pairing of accessories, but not much else for me. It's nice to have, but certainly not a mandatory feature. Anyway, I heard that they are bringing this locally - I wonder how much would that be for the top-end 8GB/256GB model This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Aug 23 2018, 02:14 AM

QUOTE(john123x @ Aug 23 2018, 12:56 AM) sry to burst your bubble. phone so expensive, but no NFC. The whole phone was directed towards emerging markets - NFC is not much of utility in emerging countries. Of course, the price/performance ratio is pretty much unprecedented for 2018, and the inclusion of power-user friendly features such as expandable memory, headphone jack and a large battery makes up the lack of NFC This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Aug 23 2018, 02:17 AM

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 23 2018, 12:52 AM) https://goo.gl/vnJXyYGSMArena full review up. Nope, no OIS. Just EIS (and yes I trust these guys). Also apparently the frame is supposedly metal painted plastic, and headphone output isn't quite up to par... and no NFC (which nobody here probably uses anyway). Otherwise, they liked it enough to nearly max out the stars they gave it. Hell, who wouldn't love a $300 845 phone, value proposition is just ludicrous. I highly doubt the targeted customer will use this phone to drive high-end headphones - this is not an audiophile-centric phone Of course, those who owns regular earphones won't need to worry about that This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Aug 23 2018, 02:20 AM

Does unlocking the bootloader/flash TWRP/rooting voids the warranty? If yes, can I still reinstate my warranty by unrooting and relocking the bootloader?

QUOTE(Sigint @ Oct 23 2018, 09:52 PM) Unlocking bootloader does not void the warranty provided you use the official tools or authorized method to unlock it. However rooting and running any form of unassigned code like custom third-party ROM then yes, the service center would reserve the full rights to reject servicing your device if you send it to them in such a condition. What if I unlocked, rooted and flashed a custom ROM say LineageOS then I reflash my phone with the stock MIUI firmware, unrooted and relocked bootloader for warranty claims? Will my warranty remains intact? This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Oct 23 2018, 09:58 PM

QUOTE(Sigint @ Oct 23 2018, 10:24 PM) That would not be a problem. As long as you can show proof it isn't your own third-party modification that damage the device any service center will accept it and your warranty remains intact. Obviously you would not send your phone in a state where it runs some third-party custom ROM would you? Because this will deviate from how the technician would diagnose your device when you send in for servicing. Another question, does the service center knows whether the phone has been already rooted? Similar to the 0x1 message on Samsung phones

Also, I intend to flash custom ROMs on this phone, but I hear about the EDL mode being locked out - what should I do if I want to return the whole phone to stock, locked bootloader mode without accidentally bricking the whole phone?

QUOTE(Sigint @ Oct 24 2018, 01:44 PM) Anyone can easily inspect if the phone is rooted or not. Not to mention lots of payment, financial and banking apps will refuse to run if the phone is detected by the said app to be rooted. For the most part SC can service a bricked phone but on a case by case basis, I really would not risk doing anyform of firmware downgrading in any devices unless there is a means to do so from the said manufacturer. My suggestion, if you want a Android phone that you can mod and customize thoroughly then get a OnePlus instead, they even encourage users to try out tons of custom ROMs on their device and even post frequent updates on various stable and beta/nightly builds for users to try out. The Pocophone isn't exactly a developer's friendly phone on the Android market. If the results vary by phone to phone running the same software and OS version then defiantly something is wrong with the camera sensor, probably the RGB sensor is screwed which would mean a hardware issue. Else this would be a software issue. Have you tried downloading and using something like GCam instead? You need a QC 4.0 certified charger and a cable that can accommodate supplying that additional current. As of right now a QC 4.0 charger is next to impossible to find and I bet it's going to be bloody costly. Might as well get a charger with a Type-C port instead. Unfortunately the lack of a SD card slot on the OnePlus 6 makes it a no go Also, does anyone here runs a custom ROM such as Pixel Experience/Resurrection Remix? I also happen to hear that MIUI has ads on their system apps - does anyone happen to see ads in their system apps? This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Oct 24 2018, 04:22 PM
