Hello, please help a lost soul here.

I understand that a desktop is always a better choice. but i need to travel around occasionally therefore i have to get a laptop.
However im thinking whenever i am stationed at home i would like to plug it with a ultra wide monitor. my only concern is that i am not quite sure if the laptop is powerful enough to support the resolution of a ultra wide monitor because i m not quite sure how it works.
below are the specs of the laptop that im considering to buy. please lemme know if it is feasible to pair a ultra wide monitor on this specs. and if possible can anyone recommend me a monitor size for it?

also my usage is to play triple A titles on high (not max or ultra) , also to do some web browsing and movies .. THANKS!!!!

nope, 1070 at least.

honestly a laptop is stupid if you want to game and travel.

like you said you need to travel occasionally, not every week

just buy a desktop and get an ultrabook

How about a desktop setup with 1060? Would it be able to support?

You can't generalize Ultra-wide monitors into 1. biggrin.gif

They come in varying resolution, some are 2560 x 1080, others can be 3440 x 1440. Our monitor the VP 3881 is 3840 x 1600.

So as you can see the resolution varies greatly, the 2560 x 1080 types are in between 1080p and 1440p monitors while those greater resolution ones are heading towards 4K resolution direction.

For 2560 x 1080 type Ultra-wide, your GTX 1060 can handle in many titles but it's limited. GTX 1070 onwards would be better as GTX 1070 cards do provide MUCH more performance.

ahh i see in the its the resolution.. i have never seen the diff between 2560 x 1080 and 3440 x 1440 but i think the 1440 should have sharper image. however its price also spike up by a lot.. i wondering if its still worthy to get the higher resolution one..

i have seen the 34 ultra wide 1440p once and i felt in love with ultra wide aspect of it. but i have not look at other size and resolution. so in your opinion what would you recommend me if i wanna keep my budget around 1.5 ~ 2k. what does sonicview have to offer?

1440 models usually have bigger screen. On the other hand there are 35" types with 1080 wide.

How sharp depends on the PPI.

For Viewsonic we currently have only the VP 3881 for Ultra Wide.
