they dont really need a degree holder - its a nice to have but not necessity. so they probably just targeting left-over degree holders that couldnt getr placement elsewhere.

The ad says minimum 1,800 for a degree holder but doesn't mention which job. If for manager position of course its low but if its position of pelayan then its probably justified.

Retail industry is a sunset industry.rental will continue to go up and company will squeeze their employees to the max to protect their profits.I have been in this industry for 10 years and saw many bright fresh grads wasted their time and talent here.

Low pay,low increment,low bonus(except Watson last year) and long hours.The only good thing is they are not so choosy compared to other industries due to high staff turnover.

Advice for fresh grad,choose your industries wisely.

Wa so hire janitor if you spm 1.4k, deploma 1.6k degree 1.8k? What's the difference in skill? Lantai tandas lebih cantik from those with degree? Or customer will ask what qualification you hold first before go into toilet?

Actually, if the points about room & board, transportation, bonus, allowance and overtime is accurate, then 1.8k starting pay is not bad. Since you don't need to pay rent, most of the 1.8k can be saved.

That salary is good, as government said that high salary will make prices go up, therefore imo that salary should be lower to make prices goes lower

Our salary at the other sectors (tech, IT, RnD, finance, banking) is unable to compete with the regional competition (Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China etc.)
This is contributing greatly to the brain drain. Singapore offers high pay and low cost of living. It is low pay and high cost of living here.

Example, my company is trying to hire more fresh grad / experienced engineers to enhance the RnD capabilities.
How do you compete when you offer fresh grad RM2500-RM3000, when SG is offering SGD 3000-3500 for fresh grad engineer?

Higher lvl wif stress especially when customer diao u when its not related to u. And also u need to cover from ur ow n pocket if got short change at the end of ur shift.

Which is why i very dulan ppl looks very happy when they receive more change after payin the bill. If only they noe its the employees who needs to cover it.....

You know the meaning of sarcasm? Our government said cannot increase salary because it will trigger high prices but at the moment prices keep increasing while salary not moving at all
