I just heard the news on the radio.
CST is a go and won't be considered in the exemption list.

So now its up to the bank if they want to absorb the cost for us credit card users tongue.gif

And the RM50 a week promo doesn't cost them? Everything got cost/benefit analysis one, not as simple as "cost means non".

But that one is FCFS and they have no obligation to notify if the weekly pool has depleted.
Cardholders can still blindly try to swipe with the hope of winning especially those who're not savvy

Suppose that my Public Bank credit cards were approved in September 2017.

Based on the current understanding, will the card service tax be imposed on each credit card in September 2018?

I would like to know whether my understanding is correct or not.

As what David said. Everytime you swipe your card, the banks earns a small commission. So in the case of the contest, if you swipe and never win anything, banks are making a money from you Now if the banks were to waive the fees or everyone, that's incurring cost.

For me reapplying serves no purpose... your cc application get rejected because your criteria doesnt pass the minimum score requirement. The bank officer have a set of SOP in processing the application... Its not easy for the credit officer to override the decision by the system. In fact for some bank, they actually penaltise your "score" for frequent application within short period of time because its a sign that you need money and your financial condition is not good... Good luck. smile.gif

What score are you referring to? Internal to the bank?

Both internal and external (CTOS Score and CCRIS).

Thanks cybpsych

The way they implement is no surprise at all!
It's within expectation and I expect other banks will have roughly similar game plan too!

yep, expected.

those who gotten the card approved before 1 Sep 2018, would have 1 year "grace period" before getting CST imposed on next anniversary.

By same logic banks can absorb CST because if they do so more will keep the card and use it. Anyway the main earning source is interest in late payment, not the swipe fees which is split to MasterCard/VISA.
