This is equal to the DIR850L. Bottom line, all TM issued stock router is crap. Get your own.
*
Is TM giving rev A1 or rev C1 for the dir-842? If rev C1 it's not too bad, got mu-mimo.

Not sure, should be C1.
*
Then it should be better than the dir-850l right? although it's still a 2 stream mimo.

I've read somewhere that a 3x3 mimo ap can still provide benefits to 1x1 or 2x2 clients.

QUOTE
The first improvement occurs on the AP side through a technique called Space Time Block Coding.  Since the 3 x 3 AP knows that it is only transmitting to a 1×1 client, it uses the leftover antenna chains to break up and transmit blocks of data to ensure that the client device can reconstruct the original signal even if parts of some streams get lost during transmission.

The second improvement occurs at the AP end. Even though a 1×1 client can only send 1 stream, that single stream bounces off walls, furniture, and other objects to arrive at the AP’s three receiving antennas as separate signals.  The AP uses the same signal recombination algorithm (discussed earlier – called MRC) to take the signal received on each antenna chain and piece together the original data signal by combining the strongest segments from each chain.

See picture on post #100. It shows MU-MIMO on box.

It is okay, but firmware is not that good. If you want to ensure you can readily support the turbo speed upgrade and want something decent, go for the TP-Link Archer C7 v4 at least.
*
Everytime see you post about archer c7... so I went and bought this a few days ago. laugh.gif

Haha, I only recommend the router I think is the best for price and stability. Thank you for trusting my recommendation. Hope you got the v4.
Yup it's version 4. Stability is pretty good, supporting 4 PCs, 3 laptops, various TV boxes, tablets and smartphones.

Hi, for Cat6 cable to support 10gbps , is it true it need to be 55m and below?

Some google result shown:

"100 meters for slower network speeds (up to 1,000 Mbps) and higher network speeds over short distances. For Gigabit Ethernet, 55 meters max, with 33 meters in high crosstalk conditions."
*
Get cat 6a cable.

they just pull the black fiber optic cable from tiang into my house, leave xx meter on the ceiling & straight to GPON terminal.

kinda ugly-looking since it's black against white walls, but another problem to settle another day.

ohhh icic thumbup.gif mine still had the fws, that was a few years ago.

do you know what's the difference between these two?

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/ugreen-2...s109417804.html?

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/ugreen-2...-s17031191.html?

The flat one has a smaller core? whereas the other is 26 awg? That's probably why the 26awg one got longer cables for sale?

Maybe TM wanna earning you labor charges if something wrong?
*
aik how they earn from labor charges? you mean since the fws is inside the premise, they will have an excuse to charge?

The flat one is actually 32awg, I believe the seller simply cut and paste the specs from their rounded cat 7 ethernet cable.
adui I saw that only after buying two 20M cables, but the cable still works great.

QUOTE(cannavaro @ Aug 25 2018, 12:28 AM)
The flat one doesn't work with PoE, unless distance is short (like 5m). I have actually tried this with UGREEN ethernet cables. 20M PoE on TPLINK WA901ND. The device will be stuck in a boot loop without actually powering up fully.
ahhh good find. I assume the round one works for PoE?

QUOTE(cannavaro @ Aug 25 2018, 12:28 AM)
Other than that, the main reason most people would want to use a flat cable is for cosmetic purpose.. easier to lay it under the carpet, doors, better airflow in high density server racks and all...
Yup I agree. For me, I need a smaller size cable to fit in my already congested cable raceways.

I understand that TM system can check what router is connected to the ONU remotely, is that correct?

I asked on live chat if the turbo upgrade can potentially speed up if I use a compatible router. Then the guy gave the answer above. Told him to put a remark that I have turbo ready equipment. Let's wait....

I will update my case, checking if I get the Turbo to 500 mbps tomorrow. I force them to do an order like you just,  its unfair for them to keep me wait and I m paying more than you.

Now at PONR status, hopefully order close properly. Perhaps fruitie you can check your order status for now, if they raise accordingly for you.
*
I live chat with them about a week ago, now I'm turbo'ed. Initially I was just asking about the equipment needed for turbo speeds. Since I had the hardware needed for a turbo upgrade, the kind CS offered to put a remark so that their team knows about it. It could be a coincidence that I'm turbo'ed but who knows..

That's cheap for a netgear assuming it's brand new.
