I looked at the first page and noticed ASUS USB-AC68 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Adapter was not listed.

Shouldn't it be able to achieve the 800Mbps speed wirelessly just like the Tp-link Archer T9UH?

I got the 800Mbps speed now btw :feelsgoodman:

Sure looks like it’s capable enough..
But there is also limited bandwidth for USB though..
*
Thanks but pardon me, could you elaborate a bit more on the limited bandwidth?

I'm also thinking on going with the Powerline Adapter route + Wired Cable but dunno if it's a good idea if I can get consistent 800Mpbs from a wireless adapter hmm.

Don't even think about achieving 500Mbps over powerline. So far the fastest powerline only barely achieve more than 300Mbps and the cost of a pair is enough to get top tier Asus wifi adapter.
*
Oh thanks for mentioning it, that saved my ass haha. I'll go wireless then. I think the fastest TP Link Model I saw in the Malaysian market is AV1300 so I thought it could reach up to 800Mpbs.

Unfortunately, all the high end Wifi adapter uses PCIe slot which is currently being occupied by my NVMe SSD and GPU. I don't have extra PCIe slots anymore sad.gif

That's why I'm thinking of either getting the Asus USB-68U or TP-Link T9UH, even though the former cost almost twice the current price of the latter. Wonder if it's worth the extra cost if both of em can provide such speed

Can anyone comment whether a PCIe Wifi Adapter (Asus PCE-AC68 or AC88) will give better signal strength than USB adapter (Asus USB-AC68 or TPlink T9UH) to get 800Mpbs.

Or it's better to utilize WiFi mesh? Dunno if i can achieve 800Mpbs wirelessly if I put the 2nd router near me upstairs.

Problem is my room is up on the 3rd floor while the router is on the 2nd floor. Signal strength is super strong (My router: Asus AC88U) but I can only achieve 250Mpbs with my current USB adapter.

Asus PCE-88 will be better than wireless USB adapters, and no, it will be very difficult to achieve 800Mbps on wireless, even if you have the Asus PCE-88. You have 3 floors so it is quite hard unless you have a wired AP at a good location.
*
I see. Are you familiar with WiFi mashing? Will it be good enough to overcome the 800Mpbs speed?

You mean wifi mesh? It is not as good as wired AP, as each node in the mesh relies on wireless connection between nodes and the router, similar to a wireless extender/repeater, so if you have concrete walls, or the distance between nodes is not optimal, the speed will still drop. The best solution for you is either pull cable and create a wired AP close to your devices, or get the Asus PCE-88 and hope for the best.
*
I see.
Alright, i'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the feedback!

On the other note, im paying RM260 (excl. 6% SST) per month for 100 Mpbs but have been turbo'd to 800Mpbs.

Dont you guys think it's a bit high? Hmmm.

Does this means now i'm paying RM179 for 50Mbps. I can go to TMpoint and change to this package?
*
Yup. You have two choices:-

1). Cancel your current package and subscribe to the new RM129.

OR

2). If you're eligible for the Turbo speed upgrade, just continue to pay RM179 monthly and just have to be patient until you get Turbo'd up to 500Mpbs. It's only a matter of when

Imo, 2) seems more tempting than 1). Continue to pay extra RM50 & you'll get x10 the speed eventually.
I leave the math to you smile.gif

=======

Edit:
If you think it's not fair, I'm paying RM260 (excl. 6% SST) per month for 100Mpbs, but I've been Turbo'd to 800Mpbs. Been using UNIFI since it first came out.
There are other users who Turbo'd to 800Mpbs yet they pay 10 - 30% less than my monthly amount.

If TM is happy to accept words as payment for their unifi service, I am happy to oblige and wait.
So far you can see it is random customer that didn't get email notice that they were eligible to turbo rather than selected customers as they claimed. At least clear their turbo mess first then launch the new plans but no, they create another hot mess four themselves to swallow.
*
Agreed.

And I didn't even noticed I got Turbo'd lol. I discovered this by chance yesterday while I was torrenting and noticed that my speed was almost thrice of the normal download speed.

No notification; whether through email, phone call or SMS. Logged into Unifi website and finally saw that my current package has been renamed to Turbo

Congrats, time to upgrade your router, see 1st page, 1st post, green text, for compatible routers and more info.

Any chance on putting some PCIe Wireless Adapter models on the front page? and maybe some of it's pros & cons over USB Wireless Adapter hehe. It'll be helpful notworthy.gif

I'm surprised to see mobile device (such as galaxy s9) WiFi speed is actually faster than what many people thought.

How close were you to the router? Now I'm tempted to test it on my Samsung S7 Edge when I get back home

My new speeeed, tested with my Asus RT-AC88U and Wired Ethernet.

[attachmentid=10015194]

[attachmentid=10015195]

But if I were to test servers that are >300 miles away (i.e. in Thailand, Vietnam) the speed would drop to 500Mpbs to 600Mbps and UL will drop to 150Mpbs - 200Mpbs.
Some server even gave slower speed <300Mbps. I guess it depends on distance & whether the Host's servers are able to accept our connection.

[attachmentid=10015201]

So most of the time, you won't get to fully utilize the 800Mbps speed laugh.gif

Yup Using Cat6 (FTP) 20M.

But from my Modem to Router, it's on Cat5e lol. I dunno if I'll get a better result if it was a Cat6 cable & above

how about your wifi speed?
*
I was using Tenda U12 wireless Adapter (theoratically capable of 500Mbps & higher under optimum condition) and could only reach a mere 250Mbps DL & 120 UL
(Tested where my room is 1 floor above the router).

Tested on my Samsung S7 Edge;
Standing in front of the router aprox. 3M gets me a speed of 600 - 700Mbps DL & 180+Mbps UL.
From my room (1 floor above the router) it's a bit mixed -- Close the door and I'll get 300Mbps - 350Mbps DL. If I open the door, I can get up to 400 - 500Mbps.

My room from the router should be somewhere between 15M - 20M, with a thick wall separating it.

Why Samsung phone can perform better? They have this MIMO chip I think, so it synchronize well with my Asus RT-AC88U router.
You're better off with an Asus PCIe wireless adapter if you wanna get the most out of 500Mbps or more speed

most importantly, how much time u can on full speed even it can hit the maximum speed at all time? unless u are on http download or Super healthy seeds etc else seriously speaking 800Mbps to most people are Super overkilled speed.

Given the download speed of the full speed, one can theoretically download GBs of data in less than minute time. Unless one has a lot of storage to download, else I dun think one can really utilise the speed.

Unless you are a content creator instead of doing content consumption like most people.
*
True. It is overkill for most average users out there for sure lol (especially when you're DL'ing stuffs <10GB where now it only takes a few mins instead of >30 mins).

But I do need the speed.

I'm a heavy torrent user in some private trackers and I have a dedicated seedbox. My seedbox is in Netherland.
Sometimes my files can be as huge as 500GB, so transferring from the seedbox to my PC (or vice versa) whether through FTP or HTTPS will be dependent on the internet speed & distance from the server. In a way, that 800Mbps is really helpful but yeah I don't always get consistent 800Mbps speed because of the distance & other external factors involved
