Live chat with TM says that I can't get the max speed of my rgx4400 and DWA131 is because of pilot phase... is that true?
*
Not true. They gave the same B S. when my turbo-ed 800mbps could only get 200mbps. It turns out that I had to switch to a cat 6 cable between router and b.t.u. and re-enable a setting on my router.

I am getting 830+ Mbps after the fix.

Just tested the TP-Link c1200 router that is included with the unifi installation by TM with a recently
turbo-ed connection at 800 mbps against a mikrotik RB750Gr3 router.

All tests were conducted with a 2M cat6 patch cable connected to alcatel B.T.U. on port 1
to router on wan port.
And a 2M cat6 patch cable from Lan port1 on router to laptop.
I did not test wifi performance as the mikrotik has no wifi built in.
Laptop has gigabit N.I.C. Core i5 7200 12MB of RAM and 120GB SSD.

With a stock router out of the box configured with the wizard and natboost enabled.

I get the following speedtest results.

When I perform the same test with natboost disabled. I get the following

After doing the tests described above. I arranged the setup to use
my mikrotik RB750Gr3 router in-place of the tplink router
with the same cable configuration as the above test
with fasttrack enabled (suggestion by jio on another thread)

I get the following speedtest results.

So it looks like if your connection is turbo-ed to 500mbps
you might be able to get by (just barely) with the tplink c1200
router that TM includes for free with their unifi package but
if you are turbo-ed to 800 mbps you will have to seriously
consider upgrading the tplink router to something more capable.

These are the only Gigabit capable routers I have on hand to test
and if I get my hands on any others I will retest and post it here.

my BTU is gigabit as well, why I'm always stuck at 100mbps, could not reach over 150.

Make sure you at least have a cat6 patch cord between the B.T.U. and your router.
When the TM technician came to my house on Saturday to troubleshoot my slow speed after being turbo-ed,
he brought a c1200 router with him to do testing. He used the included cat5e cable between the
B.T.U. and the router and was only able to get less than 200mbps. He gave up after repeated tests
and numerous phone calls back to TM technical department and told me someone else will attend my case
on Monday.

I was able to solve my speed issue the following day with the help of other lowyat users whose
advice was to use cat6 cables and also to enable fasttrack on my mikrotik router.

I told the other TM tech he did not have to come when he called me on Monday.

Very informative. Thanks for that.

Any reason why your ping is in the 60ms range? Your location?

Can you do a test with the RB750Gr3 with Fasttrack off?

With FasTrack off, my download speed never went above 200mbps.

My ping is high because I am in Sabah. I find that local Sabah servers have lower speeds when doing speed test so I pick K.L. servers.

Hi guys, I managed to get hold of a Dlink DIR-850L or what unifi installers like to
call the trashcan(Tong Sampah) router because of its' godawful wireless performance
but surprisingly it outperformed the more popular tplink c1200 which is what the installers
are pushing to new customers nowadays.

user posted image

It was left by a Tm technician who was attending
a service call at my friend's house because he had complained about not getting the
full 800mbps after being turbo-ed. I just used the wizard to configure it and made sure
that the B.T.U. was connected to the router by a newly bought cat 6 cable and that the connection
between the PC and router was also cat 6 and i managed to get more than 800 mbps when
performing a speedtest via ethernet.

The above speedtest score was obtained on a PC connected directly to the DIR-850L via cat6 cable.
So for great wired internet performance, you could use this router provided you are not
too bothered about the lousy wireless performance. It beat out the tplink c1200 which only
gets about 400 to 500 mbps on a 800mbps connection. When I was a Unifi Installer last year, we would
always get complaints about this particular router's wifi performance but we were more often
then not issued these models even when we requested the newer tplink routers ones because they were not as well
stocked at the time.

It got so bad that we would coach customers to lodge a complaint with TM, reporting lousy wifi
performance and demanding a better router so that they would not blame us and give
us a low score on the feedback SMS which would drag down our score. At the time, these complaints
were handled by the repair team and not us lowly installers.

So for those of you older customers still running this particular model, if you get turbo-ed
and only require maximum performance on your wired PC Desktop of Laptop, you can get by
with this unit and maybe supplement this with a reasonably priced better performing A.P.

Just make sure you have cat 6 cables connected from btu to router and router to PC.

Martha_Fokker  thumbup.gif but your ping is pretty high.

As I have said in a previous post, I am located in Sabah but I use K.L. servers
when doing speedtest because they have better speed but because of the distance
I get higher ping.

Hi sifu, have try taobao ruoter to malaysia?
*
I had a friend who bought a six antenna tplink WDR7400
from taobao which was only released for the China market and asked me to configure it to replace his crappy trashcan unifi router at his house.

Turns out the this router's firmware had no option to change the native Chinese language web interface so by translating whole pages of the UI using Google translate I found no support for vlan tagging which made this router unusable for unified.

My friend was lured by the six antennas and fast wifi specs coupled with a sub rm200.00 price tag.

So make sure that you check the specs carefully before you pull the trigger on these Chinese market routers.
