would TM replace the Modem/ Router for free if our current equipment could not support turbo speed?

received turbo upgrade few days ago, and the speed still capped below 50MBPS instead of 500MBPS

I know, I can always get better one someday, but I seriously cannot stand the 2.4Ghz, even with dir842, this morning only get 0.12mbps

* default settings too, not sure why even though signal strength is maxed
*
You can just buy good quality cat5e cable and get full speed sweat.gif sweat.gif

Hi guys, just changed to the 100Mbps@rm128 package yesterday. However the speedtest shows that both my DL & UP is 50Mbps.

Need help to figure out the problem, had read the first page but still not sure which part go wrong since all equipment can support till 100Mbps.

BTU: ONU-ALCATEL-LUCENT-I240G
ROUTER: RG-MARITIME-TRG212M
PC'S RECEIVER: TP-LINK'S TL-WN727N rated for 150Mbps

which of the equipment is the culprit that causing me not receiving 100Mbps? don't have a data cable to test the real speed :/

Mine after upgrade can get like screencapture on cat5e cable and 5G wifi only.

On 2.4G, my speed is same as yours, DL max at 50Mbps : -

edit  : using DIR-850L router

Did you read about 2.4GHz and 5GHz? Your USB wireless adapter is rated for 150Mbps but 2.4GHz is full of interference and congestion, so you won’t be able to get the full speed. I suggest you get a USB AC adapter, the T2U, and go in the 5GHz AC band.

Second, change your router. Did you read the part of it being old, and not being able to support optimum speed?

Hope that answers your question.

Nope, they won’t, if your router can support gigabit speed on wired connection. You are on your own on wireless speed. See 1st post, 1st page, green text.

Hi guys, I managed to get hold of a Dlink DIR-850L or what unifi installers like to
call the trashcan(Tong Sampah) router because of its' godawful wireless performance
but surprisingly it outperformed the more popular tplink c1200 which is what the installers
are pushing to new customers nowadays.
user posted image

It was left by a Tm technician who was attending
a service call at my friend's house because he had complained about not getting the
full 800mbps after being turbo-ed. I just used the wizard to configure it and made sure
that the B.T.U. was connected to the router
by a newly bought cat 6 cable and that the connection
between the PC and router was also cat 6 and i managed to get more than 800 mbps when
performing a speedtest via ethernet.

The above speedtest score was obtained on a PC connected directly to the DIR-850L via cat6 cable.
So for great wired internet performance, you could use this router provided you are not
too bothered about the lousy wireless performance. It beat out the tplink c1200 which only
gets about 400 to 500 mbps on a 800mbps connection. When I was a Unifi Installer last year, we would
always get complaints about this particular router's wifi performance but we were more often
then not issued these models even when we requested the newer tplink routers ones because they were not as well
stocked at the time.

It got so bad that we would coach customers to lodge a complaint with TM, reporting lousy wifi
performance and demanding a better router so that they would not blame us and give
us a low score on the feedback SMS which would drag down our score. At the time, these complaints
were handled by the repair team and not us lowly installers.

So for those of you older customers still running this particular model, if you get turbo-ed
and only require maximum performance on your wired PC Desktop of Laptop, you can get by
with this unit and maybe supplement this with a reasonably priced better performing A.P.

Just make sure you have cat 6 cables connected from btu to router and router to PC.

Facing the same issue here, same router but CAT5E and 500mbps, all i get is 94 mbps.

cat5e cables connected from btu to router and router to PC, same result 94mbps.

May i know what you mean when you mentioned used the wizard to configure? I bolded the text

Might be an issue of copper-clad CAT5e cables, rather than pure copper CAT5e cables hmm.gif

JohnLai

Can you provide the make and model of the Ethernet cable, if possible? hmm.gif

no problem at all, DIR-842 works well for me so far, just curious can i update between the 2 FW if i want to. just fear it will be like TP-Link Archer C1200, after update to retail FW, can not go back to TM FW.
*
If it works, why fix it? Firmware isn't software, one mistake and you just bought yourself an expensive brick.

Can you provide the text printed on the cable itself? hmm.gif

Also, 30 metres for RM13 looks almost like it's a copper-clad cable hmm.gif

You should see the recommended brands of cable on 1st page, and get a Cat6. You might have bought yourself a Cat5, or a badly crimped Cat5e. Just as possibility to consider.
