I'm surprised to see mobile device (such as galaxy s9) WiFi speed is actually faster than what many people thought.

See 1st page, 1st post, green text, for compatible routers and for more info. Asus RT-AC55UHP can support up to 300Mbps on wireless only.

How close were you to the router? Now I'm tempted to test it on my Samsung S7 Edge when I get back home

Yep, will do that when I have the time, but not many models in the market. If you want PCIe wireless adapter, I suggest the Asus PCE-88.

No surprises. Galaxy S9 has 4x4 MIMO, so it can theoretically support up to 2.1Gbps on 5GHz AC.

The S7 Edge is 4x4 MIMO so if your router is 4x4 MIMO too, then you will get that speed.

What BTU are you using? Your BTU might support FE only, or up to 100Mbps. Read 1st page, 1st post, green text, for BTU that support gigabit.

Not overkill at all. I am using it and my wife’s parents house are using it as well, and it is a very good and stable router, with built in antivirus, and IPS, and the wireless range is superb. Highly recommend it and you will definitely enjoy it. Don’t bother with switching the IPv6 on though, as IPv6 here is not really optimized yet.

Is this the one you all r referring to?
