QUOTE(aneip @ Sep 7 2018, 11:18 PM) I test before, you always get the lowest speed. But I try different location. Like there 2 capping, 1 at BTU 1 at Username. Confirm that, I tried before also. And you can't take the BTU and use it at the other place, it won't link-up with the OLT. If same area, same OLT then can, like my neighbour's BTU will work in my house but not in a totally different area.

QUOTE(miloaisdino @ Sep 7 2018, 11:57 PM) I believe can if u change the btu (gpon) password... as tm does not check against s/n on their olt side. Ultimately if use same btu without changing config only can if it ends up on the same pon port of the olt. Has anyone tried 2 btu with same password? If can then its possible to extend unifi fibre from house to house by ourselves (cloned gpon pw + real pppoe id) That's right. TM's BTU/OLT auth only use password. I actually have 2 x HG8240W. My HG850a died 2 weeks before RYE2017, so TM replaced it with a HG8240W and then during RYE2017, they installed another HG8240W and didn't take back the old one. So both still work. What do you mean, try both at the same time?

QUOTE(miloaisdino @ Sep 8 2018, 01:11 AM) Yes. Because if that works, it means can sign up let say unifi + maxis on same address. One of the subscription is yrs, the other is yr friends. So normally can use more than one port on btu to dial maxis and tm pppoe seperately. So i was thinking if another btu can be used, instead of running cat 6 from house to house, can run a fibre with yr own splitter and additional btu.. this is useful esp in 'no more port available' situations.. I wonder what will happen. Will it work? Downstream is broadcast anyway so that should not be a problem. Upstream is unicast though. Dunno enough about GPON to even begin to guess.

QUOTE(Ququ @ Sep 8 2018, 09:37 AM) My BTU is Huawei EchoLife HG850a . Get TM to change it. HG850a's network ports are 100mbps. It's reliable though. I was using this since VIP5 days until my 100mbps upgrade when TM changed it.

QUOTE(imalmighty @ Sep 8 2018, 02:37 PM) Anyone here using nokia BTU? TM technician change it for me automatically upon relocation process and never took back alcatel i240g, maybe gear me up for turbo? Nice looking BTU. Actually i240G also is gigabit and suitable for Turbo but it's TM, who knows what they're thinking. Last year, they changed my HG850a, PSU died, to a HG8240H. They took back the old HG850a. Two weeks later, for my 100mbps upgrade, they changed the HG8240H for another HG8240H. And didn't take it back so now I have 2 x HG8240H.

QUOTE(latios507 @ Sep 8 2018, 04:57 PM) Yup Using Cat6 (FTP) 20M. But from my Modem to Router, it's on Cat5e lol. I dunno if I'll get a better result if it was a Cat6 cable & above Ya, now I can reroute my seedbox to Singapore If your Cat5e are ok then it won't make any difference. But wouldn't hurt to try, just a few ringgit. Above average quality Cat5e can go up to 10Gbps.

QUOTE(dragna @ Sep 8 2018, 05:00 PM) That is because the RGX4400 isn’t a gigaport router. I know what the specs say but it has gigaports. jjuggler, can you confirm? QUOTE(Ququ @ Sep 8 2018, 04:59 PM) But my BTU still works, dont know TM will change to me or not? What speed are you on now? During last year's and early this year's 100mbps upgrades, TM was changing, for free, all FE BTUs to GbE BTUs. So anything 100mbps and up should get a new BTU with gigaports. But sometimes TM forgets.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 8 2018, 05:24 PM) is cat5e good enough or need cat6 for this cable modem-router for 800mbps? experts, please comment! as i think ALL from unifi is just cat5e. cat5e is good enough for up to 10Gbps Ethernet. Provided the quality is not too shabby. And heads are crimped properly.

QUOTE(Ququ @ Sep 8 2018, 05:20 PM) The HG850a is good enough for 30mbps. Once you go to 300mbps, TM should change it for you. If they don't, just remind them. If something bad happens to the HG850a now, TM will also change it, most likely to the new GbE BTUs.

QUOTE(Jjuggler @ Sep 9 2018, 12:57 AM) soonwai bro, the innatech rgx4400 definitely comes with gigabits ports. See the attachment below for further clarification. The test was conducted via LAN. Currently I am using 800Mbps. TM Speedtest: [attachmentid=10015500] Ookla Speedtest: [attachmentid=10015501] Nice, thanks for the confirm. RGX4400 not quite fast enough for 800mbps. OK for 500mbps, I guess.

In case anyone interested, Aztech FG7008GR is RM149 + 4.75 shipping at Lazada. Can use LAZSB99 for additional RM12 off. If not already fully redeemed. Not sure how good as router but 4x4 5Ghz kicks ass especially at this price. This is the router that does this and this is only 3x3. 800Mbps+ iPerf3 from MacBook Pro Retina 2013 (USB3 GBe Ethernet) to MacBook Pro Retina 2013 (5Ghz AC 80MHz) This post has been edited by soonwai: Sep 9 2018, 02:06 AM

QUOTE(kebeckham7 @ Sep 9 2018, 03:45 PM) u did buy the router right, hope u can test the hypptv too, this router will be my priority now. Yeah, I bought it again early today. Sold off my first one a few months ago after a few quick tests. If you want cheaper, look at carousell SG. milo here got his for RM80 used, with freebies some more. I did a quick review of it here. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=88267010This post has been edited by soonwai: Sep 9 2018, 06:20 PM

QUOTE(kebeckham7 @ Sep 9 2018, 04:05 PM) why did you sell it? not that good.that's cheap if milo get rm80, I think isp in sg give them this router as their default device. edit Issues Firmware Don't expect too much of firmware updates from Aztech. The last one was v322.6s.3-007 from 2016. Firmware Again The latest firmware v322.6s.3-007 does not work with UniFi. PPPoE tries to connect but fails. The latest working firmware for UniFi is v322.6s.3-003. from your review - ah the firmware Just to make a quick profit. Shopee selling it for 357-799. And I know this guy who thinks Shopee is the cheapest. Good or not; reliability, speed; have to use for awhile before can really say. Eventually I just plan to use it as an AP. But at this price for a 4x4 AC2400 WiFi router, I think it’s a no-brainer. The next best WiFi router I have at the moment is the hAP AC and that one is only 3x3 and it cost me RM400 used. Also have a DIR-868L. Can’t remember I think that’s also 3x3. Also Singtel unit, bought at RM150. Moral of the story, buy from Singaporeans used. QUOTE(kebeckham7 @ Sep 9 2018, 04:21 PM) pua chu kang mom always said that . hope i can get a cheap one LOL, yes, and all these Aztechs and DLinks are all freebies from Singtel and other ISPs. Our neighbours probably have a high end Mikrotik or Asus already. And I think HDB flats are quite small so can't keep too many things around. Have to sell off cheap. tbh, 2nd hand prices for stuff is SG is much cheaper than here, for example.

QUOTE(miloaisdino @ Sep 9 2018, 05:13 PM) No one (yes no one) uses mikrotik in singapore. The distributors there mainly sell to enterprises at marked up rates, and most dont know how to configure. But asus is real common.. theres even asus router subsidy for M1 etc.. Oh, I didn't know that. But I saw many discussions on Mikrotik in hardwarezone.com.sg forums.
