yes ,  if you have the budget  and like the  cable flat .  biggrin.gif

if on budget consider the specs.
Cat5e  can handle  speed to 1G
Cat 6   can handle  speed to 10G
*
Cat5e can handle speed to 10G

Later I try and let you all know. I don't have anything with SFP+ at the moment.

*
Check the FG7008GR thread, another forumer bought FG7009, Singtel branded version of the FG7008. He posted instructions to flash to FG7008 firmware. Specs are the same but USB ports are disabled. Not sure if USB are re-enabled after flashing to FG7008 firmware.

Also uncertain is, my unifi contract started in 2015 but they amended to 2017 after the free upgrade from 30Mbps to 50Mbps. If there's going to be penalty then very susah
*
The 2017 free upgrade should have no contract renewal but double check with TM.

yes, my friend who's been paying 149 before because he's in TIME areas and he claims TM will give additional RM20 discount. But he's still waiting for the Turbo upgrade. Once he got it, he'll be paying 129 for 800Mbps
*
Oh yeah, got a friend staying in Ultropolis Glenmarie who's also on Unifi RM149 100Mbps. Not sure if she's got Turbo yet.

What I mean is re-config the BTU to make it able connect non-vlan support router . Is that possible ?

TQ
*
Yes but only if you can access the BTU. Unfortunately it's locked down by TM so unless a hacker-type person writes a guide, you're probably out of luck. There's just such a thing here but for the HG850a.

how to check if my speed is upgraded to turbo? i logged in to my unifi account and it says unifi 800mbps - turbo upgrade 2018 (last time was still thank you campaign 2017)

however my speeds are still the same (100mbps)
*
DIR-859 is good enough for 500Mbps, if not 800Mbps.

Could be a 100mbps network port bottleneck somewhere. What btu are you usIng?

ok, so i think my laptop doesnt actually have a gigabit lan port LOL.
my pc is linked via a 5+ years ago powerline setup to the router. it's capped at 30mbps download.
i retried using my phone wifi 5ghz and it went up to 260mbps, so its definitely upgraded..

argh.. thing is i'll need to replace my powerline, my router, the wifi cards, lan cards for some older pcs

either this or downgrade sad.gif

btw the BTU is the Alcatel BTU from ages ago
*
If your phone can go 260Mbps, then the BTU part and possibly the router is OK. Just need to check and upgrade the rest of your equipment.

I saw many cat6 on lazada but isn't many are unshielded, which is utp???
i will buy 30m, should be "more than enough", i think this is the best path. Because there are other rooms at the left and right of my room and there are few corner before the cable can reach my room. If i put the cable above the door frame, my family sure will complain, and it will be ugly if go this way.
*
The inexpensive ones are UTP, unshielded. You can get shielded CAT6 but expensive, I guess because fewer ppl use them.

1. I have two account for my Unifi subscription and both located at different corner of the Klang Valley. One of it got upgraded earlier this month and the other will be next year. Nobody knows how they prioritize the upgrades.

2. 100Mbps

3. To torrent at 500Mbps you need a router with good CPU as it requires significant amount of routing performance to do so. Remember torrents packets are much smaller than packets received/transmit for the speedtest and typical http download.
*
#3 is a very good point. Not many people are aware but the true measure of a router's performance is pps, packets/sec.

TM came and replaced my router with DIR842 with MU-MIMO.

Package is 500Mbps.

They tested with their thick Cat6 cable on their and mine devices and achieved 520+ Mbps.

They tested 2.4 Ghz and got about 170+ to 200+ Mbps.

And 5ghz above 200+ .
Now , I got 3 questions.

1. Does this router sufficient for the time being before I buy something better to ultilize 300Mbps and above on Wi-Fi?

2. How so no login to the Router? They set it up and now I forget to ask for the password. I found there's user password on the bottom, do they use that during set up?

3. They recommend me getting new Wi-Fi adapter with A.C and I have one in mind, DWA182, should be good for getting close to 500Mbps or DWA192?

They tested my Cat5e and strangely it maxed at about 90mbps
*
Good for you. Finally solve the speed problem. I think it's sufficient. No point in spending unnecessary money.

The password should be on a sticker somewhere.

As for AC, if you're some distance away and behind a door or a wall, you can pretty much forget about high speeds. If you really want the speed, it's better to pull a cable and install a 5Ghz AP in your room.

The cable is probably just bad. I have a bad Cat5e which refuses to link at 1Gbps all the time and I have a Cat5 cable which links at 1Gbps but transfers at a max of 350Mbps.

RM50, grab it. It's not that bad. Works great as an AP/backup router.

Torrent completely unusable now?

Magnet link? Looks like DHT being block. I'm facing the same thing with a popular highly illegal torrent. Start another torrent like Ubuntu.iso or whatever. Hopefully someone else you connect to is downloading the same thing. Peer exchange will do its thing and connections will multiply like rabbits in no time.

Now I feel a bit confuse. If I downgrade from 800 to 100, will they charge me RM200?
*
I asked the same thing, kind of since I haven't got my 800 yet, from 189 to 129. TM said if "out of contract" which I am even though I shouldn't be, no charge. If under contract, got charge. I didn't ask how much. Also contract will be renewed.

Just being turbo-ed 2 days ago. Restarted the modem and on back after 10 minutes. But facing a weird issues here. Every time after restart the modem it works fine but the next day, it will back to the previous speed again, for me is 800 mbps back to 100 mbps.
Then if restart again will get back to the turbo-ed speed. Is this consider normal as I saw many are mentioned about the pilot phase for this turbo-ed plan.  Is anyone here facing the same issues also?
*
Shouldn't be. What BTU? What router?

Have another question:
Never tried this setup before. If I connect my laptop directly to the BTU, I can immediately surf the net? Any setup required? (eg. need to enter username and password manually like in the router page)
*
You can but need to setup vlan500 on your laptop and a pppoe dialer. Good to have as a backup in case router rosak.
