I would like to get opinion on the condition and safety of houses at Desa Setapak, few minutes from LRT Wangsa Maju.

Are these areas safe for walking to at night?

From google view , it seems like most are pretty narrow houses and aged. I doubt if the houses can provide comfortable space for living.

Its safe, alot of student stay around the place. The police is around because its near their camp. Of course is a very jam area because many live around there.

built during the early 80s if not mistaken

Isn't there the unsolved mystery of one poor young underage girl who was kidnapped there then sexually abused and her body left in a bag somewhere in old klang road?

This was a long time ago..wasn't it solved? As in the suspect found.

To answer TS, the area is liveable. But is it bearable to you, that's another thing. For me, if I live alone, it's ok. With family, probably no.

It's relatively safe as everywhere else in KL at night so be vigilant and don't hang out too late.

I've seen many people walking and that area is quite busy. Just need to be careful. As for the houses there, they are abit old. But there are many food choices around the area.

Mind to share what's the reason(s)?
Being close to LRT, I would presume the noises of the LRT.
And also, these houses were built in the 80s, one can do some Google Street view to see.
Plus I think inside the houses is having quite narrow spaces and low ceilings.
But, well the trade off is the closeness to LRT and the cheap rental and abundance of food.
Security wise - dark alleyways? Maybe if unlucky- breakins to the houses?

Btw, how does Wangsa Metroview fair in comparison?
Wangsa Metroview is still considered not really a higher-end condo right?
Probably a bit above low-end, but newer than Alpha Condo.

Duke highway? You mean the elevated development at the traffic lights going through Sri Rampai?

Shit hole. Shitty neighbors that parks and block your gate. Car porch that can fit only 1 satria or wira. Good luck with having 2nd car.

Most of the time non residents park at side roads inside residential area to walk to LRT. Those actually staying there no need to park ady loh. Win liao lor. Abundant food stalls but not exactly that cheap as well. Somehow desa setapak every now and then no water supply.

Crime is high, I've personally seen a few snatch & run thieves in action. Ex's car got stolen there. Heard that break-ins happens every now and then hence the police patrols.

Alot of foreign workers staying in that area as well. Sometimes clothes get stolen.
Some guy wanking at the lorong every now and then.

Heavily congested at the shops area.

Rubbish filled drains. some alleyways near convenience stores have beer bottles, liquor bottles and cigarette packs thrown there and filled the drains.
Some lala ah beng or rempits revving and accelerates on their kapcai with modified exhausts everyday. A couple of them got into accident in the residential area. Even playgrounds become hanging spot for drinking and smoking.

The 7-Eleven near the LRT got robbed a couple of times. Yeah, i would say it's a slum.

Unfortunately yes, and also young adults that just started working as well who want easy LRT access.
You can literally see them walking down to LRT in droves every morning. Some stay in the cluster homes, some stay at the flats or apartments nearby the Section 2 school.

Not to mention TAR have shuttle buses for the students living in desa setapak.

Wangsa Maju and Taman Melati (LRT Gombak). Use to stay at Putra Villa, great place and walking distance to LRT.
