Hi all,

I am interested to purchase one unit of Finepix F20 from a few lyn.net member but unfortunately due to unseen circumstances, they are not able to bring in the product. Reasons: Out of stock. As I am a budget concise kind of person, I understand that lyn.net members are able to bring in the product for less than RM650 or so. And I did some homework/research on the product and I must say that I fell in love with its Super CCD low light shot.

It produces some of the best low light picture quality of all time compare to most major competitor. But now, I linger here in sadness because after all the research and asking around, it seems that my dreams slowly fades away. As most of the photo studio I inquire either have no stock or price=RM1200??? rclxub.gif .That price is equivalent to a brand new F31FD with face detection technology.

I guess that F20 is really no more in the production already, therefore I would like ask you The Sifu notworthy.gif opinion on what comes close or on par with my dream camera the F20. And if you DO come across anyone or anywhere that sells the F20 at RM650 or so, please send me a PM notworthy.gif .

And I end my note today with *Happy Shooting icon_rolleyes.gif

Regards.

For low light capability, no one in the market can match the Fuji sensor. So you have to buy F31fd or F40fd.. smile.gif

I've spoken to one of the representative from Fuji and I am irritated by the way how he respond to my email. Here is the conversation and my reply:

Hi Leong,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I am curious that the F20 and the F31FD is roughly about RM100 apart. Since you did mentioned that the competition is great, I think its fair that the F20 should be lower. In terms of quality and performance, the F31FD outperformed the F20 in many ways, one being the face detection technology and the other a better ISO handling.

There is many websites that offer the stipulated price of RM600, but since this is only available outstation, there are many factors such as customs, post charges and warranties that I need to consider.

There is no doubt that Fuji has one of the best compact around, but looking at the marketing strategy and availability of stocks, this prevents most consumer from understanding and enjoy the full capabilities of Fuji cameras.

Thank you.

Warm regards,
San.

ps. For your kind reference, most of the price I surveyed is from www.lowyat.net. Since this is a reputable website, I believe that they won't simply quote their prices. I did call Fuji HQ and ask them whether they will support the camera from lowyat.net and their response was a firm yes.

    Hi Sonny,

We would like to inform you that the F20 is retailing for RM1188.00 and not as lower than your estimate with the price around your budget of RM600.

If you do come across the F20 at around RM 600 (with Fujifilm M'sia warranty card) please do let us know since we would like to buy from that reseller and profit more.

Through our billing records, we have not sold any unit at that price you indicated.

We hope that this will clear all your doubt. Competition is so great and we never price our pricing strategy high and affect the sell through.

Other dealers around town have enjoy good sales and have thus reorder their stock.

    Regard

    Leong
The sentence "If you do come across the F20 at around RM 600 (with Fujifilm M'sia warranty card) please do let us know since we would like to buy from that reseller and profit more." really shows how ignorant and naive Fujifilm is vmad.gif .

Well, one note to you Fuji, you just lost one customer, me. Not only your product is hard to find but your people are so lcly*.

I will shift my direction to either Panasonic, Nikon or Olympus. Though their low light shots doesn't excel, but I am sure that their other features are more value for money compared to Fuji.
