True, but it's not a necessity item. I.e you don't need it to survive, unless your job revolves around using a camera and the equipment 😅

Just checked MYSST on Kastam's website. All digital and DSLR cameras will be taxes 10%.

Photographic camera lenses, oddly, are exempt.

The photographic flash is also going to be taxed a full 10%.

It's quite likely not. I would imagine the current SST taxation system will borrow heavily from the pre-GST era tax system, which basically rules out cameras as an exempt item, but can't say for sure about the camera lenses.

Yes. Just got back from a shop. The guy said Canon has already confirmed their SST price. It's a 20% increase for cameras. Effective next Monday.

Even more expensive than GST era.

A7iii for body only from 7800 will be looking at 5 figures when SST kicks in. KNN.

Lenses are exempt because medical equipments also share the same category.

Wow, that is incredibly high. Definitely worse before when GST was around. I suppose it would be wise to buy whatever equipment or camera that you have been dreaming to get now before the tax kicks in. sweat.gif

Not just SST. Sony is also raising their prices due to high demand for that particular model.
