QUOTE(indahr39 @ Jun 9 2019, 11:12 PM) can we use our Alipay in China? Only if you are a verified user and the Alipay account is linked to a Chinese bank account/card. Otherwise it is only a "limited" Alipay account which allow you to use a Malaysian Visa/MC to pay Taobao/TMall only

I need to uninstall and reinstall Alipay App, then re-login 60-********* and I got the option to switch to International wallet and in English language.
* must show Chinese Visa (not Visa card) to top up .

QUOTE(Lingohal @ Nov 5 2019, 09:28 PM) I wonder what will happen if I top up the tour pass since I have balance in the wallet. The app will get confused or not? 😅 Edit: Oh, we have to switch region to international in order for payment to be deducted from the prepaid card, right? Ya our fund cannot be kept by Alipay so Alipay find a Chinese bank to issue a virtual prepaid card. Smart!

QUOTE(Lingohal @ Nov 6 2019, 06:17 AM) I think it means that you can have a maximum of RMB2000 in the card at one time. So you can top up whenever you want. Let's say you have RMB500 left, you can top up RMB1500. I still have alipay china wallet. Still can use. I can select my payment to be made from the prepaid card or my china wallet balance. There is an undisclosed but "reasonable" limit of using Tour Pass, according to Alipay. So not you can top up whenever you want. This post has been edited by ClarenceT: Nov 6 2019, 07:57 AM

QUOTE(mamamia @ Nov 6 2019, 03:18 PM) The virtual card is only valid for 90 days? Can I activate again after 90 days? Wonder I can use it to pay my taobao purchase with the virtual card so that I can save 3% credit card charges too Get another Tour Pass. Maybe good only for those holding Chinese Visa > 3 months. Most of us are getting the cheapest Chinese visa - 1 entry with validity of 3 months. This post has been edited by ClarenceT: Nov 6 2019, 03:28 PM

QUOTE(uncle wong @ Nov 7 2019, 11:04 AM) Alipay tourpass is very good for tourist in china, No transaction fee to December 31, 2019. BUT the terms say the fee going forward will be a steep 5%, very expensive service charge. International Visa/MasterCard cost is not cheap in China. That's why not many outlets in China accept Visa/MasterCard. Uncle Trump is forcing China to open up this financial service. This post has been edited by ClarenceT: Nov 7 2019, 12:33 PM

QUOTE(yahiko @ Nov 8 2019, 02:32 PM) u top up in china or in malaysia? since limit is only 2K RMB, so if finish dy any issue to top up in china? Just like Bigpay, it doesn't matter where you top up as long as you have internet access. The wallet size is RMB 2000, you still can continue to top up till wallet reaches RMB 2000, but there is an undisclosed but reasonable ceiling for 90 days. And you cannot choose another credit/debit card to top up and refund (when the wallet expires after 90 days). So think carefully which credit/debit card to use (valid for at least 3 months) when getting the Tour Pass. This post has been edited by ClarenceT: Nov 8 2019, 05:07 PM

QUOTE(MGM @ Nov 8 2019, 06:03 PM) Is there anyway to cash out the money like may be at the cashier@grocery store? Not worth it lah when 5% surcharge (waived till 31/12/19) on top up Tour Pass. You still can use Bigpay to get cash from ICBC's ATM. When you go to China next year, Wechat Pay is another option, not sure how it will work This post has been edited by ClarenceT: Nov 8 2019, 06:44 PM

QUOTE(emch3w @ Dec 5 2019, 10:43 AM) Cannot....from the warning message also clearly state that the transaction had been terminate due to high risk... But, later she was able to pay in other store with terminal by letting the merchant scan the QR. Therefore, who want to use Alipay in China still better prepare or have some cash with you cause it is not 100% work....I guess Yes one of my Tour Pass was not always working especially to a newly created Alipay account. Be careful with RMB 100 bank notes, a lot of fake notes are circulating. For UnionPay debit/prepaid cards issued in Malaysia, must pre-inform the bank to enable overseas usage.

Requested for refund on 4/2/20 (originally expired on 15/2/20). Got the refund in less than 1 week. Lost a few RM to Bank of Shanghai + Public Bank, RMB 1.719 = RM1.00.

QUOTE(chinti @ Nov 18 2020, 02:26 PM) hi everyone, new to alipay and was wondering how can i topup my alipay account in malaysia to be used on site like 1688.com or alibaba? First of all, do you have a bank account in China? If no... For Taobao, you will be given a Alipay account but it is not an wallet. For you to use foreign credit/debit/e-wallets to make payment to Taobao only. If you want to get an Alipay wallet but not having a debit card issued by a bank in China, you need to use Alipay for foreigners. It is a prepaid account valid for only 90 days, it is charging 5% fee to top up the prepaid account if I am not wrong, not sure if a Visa issued by Chinese Embassy is still required!
