Hi all, I am writing this post to seek for second opinions.

My mother had macular hole retinal detachment for one of her eyes. She was sent for emergency surgery with a new vitreoretinal specialist A(new to our family in this context). The procedure is vitrectomy with gas bubble.
Surgery was carried out in May (right before election), went for multiple check-ups and the surgeon replied saying that the recovery was very good, positive etc etc. We had additional check-ups as flight ticket has been purchased for my mother before knowing of her condition, and doctor has to confirm that the gas has subsided completely in her eye before she is allowed to take a flight.

Unfortunately, mother knocked right into a glass door and injured the other eye (swollen and blue-black). We wanted to go back to specialist A to check however she requires an appointment and we had to go for an emergency at another center. Specialist B checked her other eye to confirm that there are no injuries to the surface. Just to confirm, we did a macular scan just in case something goes wrong with her retinal.

To our surprise, the scan came out to reveal that the surgery was a failure, her MACULAR HOLE WAS BIGGER THAN BEFORE. We went instantly to make an appointment with Specialist A and she was all sarcastic and said that it was a tough procedure. She didn't even reply to us or admitted on the failure of the surgery. She went straight and recommended us to do another vitrectomy which she can't even tell us our expectations.

I have totally lost confidence in this specialist A, and we went to specialist C.

A short summary of Specialist C, my mother has a retinal detachment around 10 years old and it was operated by specialist C - famous surgeon. She regained her vision almost instantly and no other problems with that eye.

Specialist C shook his head and said "You got the wrong surgeon and nothing can be reversed. They only wanted money." I asked if he can do something, but he refused to do anything, and just asked my mother to take care of another eye.

Now, we are in despair looking for our fourth, fifth, sixth ... opinions. I would appreciate if you have family, friends or anyone who had a similar experience to share with me OR if you have a recommendation of an ethical specialist, please PM me the contact.

Thanks in advance for spending your time reading this post. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
