Wonder if it would affect the value in the long run and if it is harder to sell in the long run ohmy.gif

Some if not most developers have known about this, so the superstitious 13th floor would have been removed from the lift button panel. The 13th floor is considered as a "bad floor" especially in Western countries. In Malaysia, the number 4 is considered as "bad" too. So, specifically apartments or buildings built by Chinese developers, some of the levels with the number 13 and 4 are renamed. I have noticed some offices have renamed 13 and 14 floor to 12A and 12B respectively. So it goes like this:-

9
10
11
12
12A
12B
15
16
17

As I mentioned in another thread earlier, the "unlucky" floors may be harder to sell, but in the end you will still see people filling up these floors sooner or later.

I bet if the rest on the units sold out, people won't care about 4 and 13.

13th floor superstition only applies to the Western countries, particularly the US. Friday the 13th.

Most (if not all) developers here won't give a hoot about it. As mentioned by the others, most will focus on changing the no. 4 to 3A. Though I wonder what about those new launch condos that are starting to go beyond 30 floors. What about 40th floor? How are they gonna 'renumber' it, I wonder? hmm.gif

Not just western... it affects Christians as well cause the number 13 is often seen as unlucky or even evil, due to Judas being called the 13th of Jesus’s 12 disciples, the one that betrays Jesus.

You know la Christians, very staunch believer in their faith. Buying a floor that represents betraying Jesus for them would be worse than buying the 4th floor

I'm a Christian myself and do not recall the number '13' being bandied around as something evil. It's always the number '666' which is associated with the devil. And how did that 13th apostle analogy came about? By including Jesus among them? He's the leader. That's why its called 'Jesus and the 12 apostles', not Jesus' bros/gang or sth like that.

I recall the number '13' is more associated to ghost/horror stories such as Friday the 13th as one of them, which seems to be popularised in the US. There may be others, tho, but not as widespread as what I've mentioned previously.

Not all people buy house to sell though. Say you live in a house you bought cheap 10~20 years ago and the price become doubled. You decided to sell it, but can you buy another house with lower price in similar neighborhood? You need to open new rural area laugh.gif
