I think we all should be more careful with Chinese manufactured phones, as they collect so much data. However, I'd make exception for products such as Android One phones since Google is directly involved in the products.

I am using Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and I was forced to signed up an account just to unlock the bootloader.

Regarding oneplus, is the customer service good? How to repair if there is something wrong with the phone?

Android one is over rated. Even when they claim it's stock Android, manufacturers still fail to push to for updated security patch. It's a marketing scheme. One plus it's better in keeping the software updated.

depends on how you use. if you need the latest and greatest because of (gaming). then you know the answer already.

I personally never buy latest phone cause i only text and browse. don't require the latest. i buy 1 or 2 gen older models. I don't believe in future proof. My 1 gen older phone can last me 4 years. Just change battery after 2 years and it will keep you going again.

Nothing about whether i can afford or not. it's just paying for what I need.
