There are some strange ones here.

But these are mostly Arabic names. Frankly I like traditional Malay names. I read somewhere that traditional Malay names for girls are names of flowers, e.g. Melor, Liyana, Melati. Those are nice. I've met some very nice aweks with such names

But what are traditional Malay names for boys? I don't know any.

Everyone trying to be different with special names. When everyone is special, no one is. If you wanna stand out, go with Cempaka and Muhd Ali. Another example is ladies hair color. Wanna stand out, leave it black.

Chinese kids also nowadays use french name, like celeste, genevieve, fluer, florence yada2

But most just use these names as nicknames, on IC will show the actual Chinese name.

I had a classmate in highschool. his name was Asmara lol... used to be hantu setan during the first few years in high school. I remembered sometimes in form 5 he totally turned 180 degree. now hes a teacher in my high school. he literally turned from setan to angel.

I can layan that kind of strange names with exquisite spelling, but I have encountered few other names which are Unisex in nature, you cannot guess whether that name belong to a guy or awek until you have met the person yourself (given the condition that you dont know his/her full name)
