I'm using 5w30 too. For my car age (13 years, 165k), some advice to go for 40 engine oil.
While idle can hear minor noise & vibrate, but when drive is good feel. if use 40, only good when is newly change, after few k, feel engine heavy, (before 5k).

what's the interval you change plug & ATF oil?

Minimum 1 to 1.5k yearly haha.

spark plug 30 if not mistaken ( i svc at protong)
ATF usually 20-30k km (1 to 1.5 years)
5w30 petronas ok la not leaking yet.
usually if leak , head gasket. common problem hahaha.
if use 5w30 near 10k km also pancit liao hahahha.
Once change back new oil. vroooooom

I'm using Shell semi for 5w30 for 5k only, head gasket change few times already.

If follow Proton schedule, Spark plug & ATF is under major service every 20k. I feel like want to delay a bit, since so old car already.

You service at Proton SC, the oil filter no leak? I been tried few round for the past few years, keep leaking after few months, make me dare not use their original filter anymore.

ATF based on books is 40k.
SC/mechanic recommend 20k
i hover around 20-30k see my mood.

Servicing in proton worth to get their fully. rm 189 if not mistaken.

Petronas syntium 3000 also more than rm200 already.
Those days before geely take over proton uses syntium 3000 then 3000se. now own package but by petronas as well.

Do they offer semi now still? I still prefer semi at every 5,000km instead of fully at 10,000km interval.

yes they do but could be expensive as u need to pay rm 60++ for labour if not mistaken

Ohhh very good price already as now API-SP semi synthetic selling RM16X in my regular workshop... I'm currently using semi synthetics from Shopee that i got for about 40 per 4L. Not sure about the impact of using such cheap oil online but so far so goodbfor past one year... I clocked about 5,000km around average 1.5 months.

hope u get genuine oil.
what we fear of is recycle oil.

from my experience of using petronas oil.
Not a sign of sludge at all during head cover gasket replacement.
the area looks new.

I have spend 42K ++ for my Persona maintenance for the period of 14 years of ownership.
369,000km ++ and counting....
Replace engine one time because it got into flash flood...

Just finish year end trip from Shah Alam - Menatakab - Kuala Terengganu - Kota Bharu - Shah Alam , more than 1000km, 3 days trip...
I'm happy with the car...
Still give me smile when driving at Karak highway all the way until Genting Sempah and go down to Gombak toll...
one driver surprise me in that road is Toyota Hilux brough durian half full who i give way because he drive like Bunta...

Hilux carrying durian is very dangerous, my other car was hit by that when front suddenly emergency brake. My car already stopped for a while still kena hit from behind.

Owh, think about it again, yes, better to let them pass.
They are heavier and will take longer distance to stop.
The smart move is to follow at their back.

Guys, old car new problem.

Hear metallic grinding noise coming from the right front side when turning left more than 50km/h. It sounds like something is rotating and grinding. So that leaves to parts that rotates. CV joint/drive shaft looks ok, rubber boot intact.

I'm thinking something with the brakes. Any experience?

Check front lower arm ball joints. If knocking sound when go over bump, then check also front suspension link. Another possibility is your tyre rub against daun pisang. Happens when one of the clip loosen.

Turns out both front absorber is leaking. Last change probably like 4 years or 5. Any good brand recommendation? Last time it was the mechanic choose for me some japanese sounding brand. Not KYB.

Need to check front absorber mounting also as the ball bearing can worn out and making noise during turning steering.

I'm currently using KYB silver color one. Says heavy duty, i feel stiffer on the ride. So far this one haven't fail me since 188,000km (for front). Rear set just installed for about 10,000km after GAB Super failed at life of 140,000km.

Anybody know the best place to change exhaust system, from extractor to muffler?

There are shops that does that. Specialise in exhaust. You can pay attention to the shop that has welding activity and various exhaust displayed. Sometimes they do keep original spec exhaust system.

Do know that your catalytic converter worth quite a lot if you decat and sell back to shop.

Are the front struts interchangeable left and right? pretty sure i got 2x right here.

Nope. Got left and right spec as there's ABS hose pin bracket.

Alright, Im done buying car parts over shopee, simple left and right part somehow was wrong.
