Probably im too light footed throughout the tank.
First time get this FC since i own it in 2015.

My key drop to wachine machine and it is dead.
Try to open everything and let it dry.
Put back everything and press the lock button.
the red light on the key keep blinking.
Test open the door is ok, but after go in, it just suddenly lock the door without press anything.
When I'm inside, press the unlock button, alarm raise, cannot stop it until I use spare key press something again.
anyone got this problem? can it still be fixed?
how much it cost if make a replacement on proton?
*
few years back i replaced before. the controller not expensive. labour from proton expensive. end up rm100++ i think
But only repalce the board yea.
the key, immobolizer and casing not replaced

maybe u should consider look for locksmith to do for you

My key masuk machine more than 5 times already after replacement.

usually if masuk machine i open the casing remove the battery .
let it dry a day before using it again.
Still functional except the alarm button.

u can consider drying ur componenent before trying.maybe ur pcb board already shorted as u operate when its wet

Hi fellow owners, i've got a 2015 SV auto. Proton SC in KL advised to replace the whole link, bush, right absorber, etc coz my front left absorber is leaking for rm2500 all incl. labor. Does that sound right? Any other alternative/recommendations are welcome. Thx sifus!
*
have u consider use OEM products?

To be honest servicing at Proton SC still ok
However if u want to replace parts unless ur budget alot doing at proton can be very costly.

U can consider finding workshop that can supply genuine part
or just get OEM parts.
My mounting, absorber front, absorber mounting as well as drive shaft is OEM product.
I rmb changing all those around 2k but not at one go.
Both left and right front absorber, mounting as well as drive shaft.

Guys, today when driving to work the check engine light suddenly turned on. Im hearing quite loud engine tapping. When I stop the car, noise is gone. Shut the engine, and start again, the check engine light gone.

Sudden spark plug failure?

Maintenance and repair cost of my Gen2, also since 2011, I think around RM25-30k like that, calculated that early this year. Spent most on radiator fan and absorber (3rd or 4th set already), I don't understand why Proton front absorber always leaking oil...

Last year also spent a lot on replacing those lower arms, absorbers, absorber mounting, engine mounting and tyres...
*
Waa. my front absorber changed in 2022 together with mounting (mounting kong)
my original absober rebound till 85% perfectly but the mechanic phyco me change.
the old one still inside my carboot.
I changed a KYB one not sure can tahan how long.

Tulang anjing i already change. the shorter tulang anjing and lower arm didnt change. my mechanic say not alot sound no need change. ori parts tahan longer haha.

My back absorber still untouched till today.

2015 persona. 210k km

Other stuff i changed was drive shaft and engine mounting.

Due to change: aircond controller hahahah

Say, if I were to buy new car, is there other car that have the same feeling as this persona? I mean, I like the persona because the driver seat is feels really good for my back and the handling feels tight.

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Oct 14 2024, 03:11 PM)
I have asked this question myself before, and realised that there's not many choices within my budget of below 100k.

The MC3 Persona seems like a good choice for improved confortability (better seat ergonomy even for rear passenger), S70 for better powertrain, Alza for better passenger capacity and fuel consumption.

But if you consider second handed market, i say perhaps you'll be opening to Mazda 3 and Honda Civic for handling?

End of the day i still stick to my car first. Not much manual transmission now that i think I'll be able to afford + enjoy.
*
Personally im looking for new vios tho i dont think is an upgrade.

Not much choice below rm100k.
Dont wan buy too expensive car.
Petrol subsidy maybe revoked soon ahhaa

S70 probably a no no to me .

Any particular reason for avoiding S70?
*
Fuel consumption compared to perodua vios/shitty

Im not into 3 cylinder if possible.
With turbo shiok but long term ownership sure sakit.

AAC/AA not available

Too many things is relying on the screen.
somehow prefer the physical buttons.

Spareparts are not so abundance compared to vios/shitty.

i understand cvt famous putus.
Do note that older gen dct gearbox in x50 got issues as well
2/2 friend of mine replace the torque converter during warranty period hehe

Very hard especially in terms of handling. Comfort wise, I upgraded to a CX-30 so that's definitely a nicer car to be in, but I still quite miss the Persona's handling. Every weekend still drive it out for fun  sweat.gif
*
Got so bad?
Mazda is known in jap manufacturer to be better in terms of handling hahaha

anyway still thinking wan buy vios mou haha
My persona quite new compared to alot ppl here. 2015

Base on my personal experience on my Persona ownership from brand new 2010 until now 2024, once the car getting old, you need to do flushing yearly to get good performance of the aircond. After one year, without service, the aircond would not feel cold as it should be. You can refer on my aircond service history as shown in picture below... icon_rolleyes.gif

*
i also do flushing every year
last service i asked proton sc didnt flush for me kurang sejuk.

I went top up gas can already. not sure got abit leak or what
Kurang sejuk means still sejuk but not as cold as i want for example when i put it at 25C

Actually basic maintenance already keeping us busy and our wallet reasonably thin. And you are quite right on the regular maintenance.
*
agree its not cheap. everything add up

ATF,brake oil ,radiator fluid change (i never flush before but to date i have no issue with temp. tho i see some debris inside radiator.) ,power steering oil change aircond flushing.

for me other than my exterior paint and also my brake (sometimes feels soft. last time happened more. i flushed twice then didnt happen anymore for almost a year. recently kena once)

i think i spend quite alot on this car hahahhaa.
sometimes feel stupid but oh well.

I think I've spent more than RM25k throughout 13 years to maintain my car although low mileage.
*
haha this 2 years only start tracking
Minimum 1 to 1.5k yearly haha.

QUOTE(dannyw @ Dec 30 2024, 04:05 PM)
I'm using 5w30 too. For my car age (13 years, 165k), some advice to go for 40 engine oil.
While idle can hear minor noise & vibrate, but when drive is good feel. if use 40, only good when is newly change, after few k, feel engine heavy, (before 5k).

what's the interval you change plug & ATF oil?
*
spark plug 30 if not mistaken ( i svc at protong)
ATF usually 20-30k km (1 to 1.5 years)
5w30 petronas ok la not leaking yet.
usually if leak , head gasket. common problem hahaha.
if use 5w30 near 10k km also pancit liao hahahha.
Once change back new oil. vroooooom

ATF based on books is 40k.
SC/mechanic recommend 20k
i hover around 20-30k see my mood.
spark plug i not sure tho.

I didnt know oil filter got leak. let me have a look
I didnt see any oil drips on the floor at the moment

Servicing in proton worth to get their fully. rm 189 if not mistaken.

Petronas syntium 3000 also more than rm200 already.
Those days before geely take over proton uses syntium 3000 then 3000se. now own package but by petronas as well.

Do they offer semi now still? I still prefer semi at every 5,000km instead of fully at 10,000km interval.
*
yes they do but could be expensive as u need to pay rm 60++ for labour if not mistaken
might as well do 10,000.

unless u buy change outside
if not mistaken 12x rm

Ohhh very good price already as now API-SP semi synthetic selling RM16X in my regular workshop... I'm currently using semi synthetics from Shopee that i got for about 40 per 4L. Not sure about the impact of using such cheap oil online but so far so goodbfor past one year... I clocked about 5,000km around average 1.5 months.
*
hope u get genuine oil.
what we fear of is recycle oil.

from my experience of using petronas oil.
Not a sign of sludge at all during head cover gasket replacement.
the area looks new.
