Hi all, just now on the way back from work, i noticed my car temp go up until almost to the max during idle/stuck at traffic jam and traffic light.
But when the car moves, it dropped back to the normal level (centre) almost immediately.
Then when the car stopped again at traffic light, the meter goes up slowly and drop down again when moving.

Stopped the car, open bonnet, see no leak whatsoever, no smoke/burn smell, the fan was spinning.
Last CNY, already changed to new water pump + timing belt set, which also change the coolant.

Was the problem related to termostat or others? hmm.gif Also the car is 15 years old.

Your photo where got oil leaking? My drain plug dripping few years every time squat down can obviously see the oil droplet, recently baru change.
*
Right side on the photo joining, all the black powder stain not cause of oil leak? Based on my last year photo, front side also have black powder, behind seems clean. At least been a year or more, that's why if not serious i will just leave it.

Reason being is i schedule back to Proton SC for major service this month end, just want to get original atf oil, spark plug, fuel filter & etc. So thinking want to do together or not?

Btw, the oil filter leak no issue on driving on highway, right? Few days a small drop.

Another possibility is fan motor. I changed my last year. Fan start weak or no spin already, when you drive, the wind cool down the radiator so it drop back.

I changed my thermostat not long ago..

Yours not from the screw nut? It happens once on me, after service few months, leaks on the nut side.

My looks black from the upper part (near dip stick area). Wipe with tissue is oil stain, but not looks like fresh leak as my oil filter. Hope is not something else.

Can try carburetor cleaner. Remember to put old newspaper below to catch the drip after you spray.

If really it's the dipstick housing, then it's a cheap fix. Just pull it out after unscrew the anchor and replace the O Ring.

if it happen frequently, better check at nearest workshop.
Try to rotate your radiator fan with engine off, see if the fan can spin smoothly or have resistant.
I experienced this last few months, when radiator fan down, aircond still cold but car temp will rise when car stop, and the radiator coolant will spill out due to high temp, also the fan will run for sometime even after turned off car switch.

For repair, i need to change the fan motor, and also replaced the burn fuse caused by high resistant when the fan spinning.

100% confirmed it's the meter. Get it repaired. Need to change the thingy that moves the needle.

Check FB marketplace for meter repair guy. I suggest asking Gen2 group for dedicated meter guy.

Guys, do regular part store have brake switch in stock? Feeling like wants to DIY.

Today my brake switch decided to died out of nowhere. My brake light on all the time, somehow it affected the power window. Tried tugging wires around the brake, something feels hot. It was the wire connecting to the brake switch, somehow it shorted itself.

No check engine light, probably because the brake switch failed mechanically. Somehow it shorted and plastic melted. Burned my finger a bit.

Finally after 1 year and half, engine braking somehow returned back to my car. Really annoying when the car switched lower gear going down hill.

Before this auto engine braking mysteriously disappeared after I send the car for A/C servicing. A/C shop took off the battery for the whole day, probably reset some settings. Last week I send the car for wiring repair because brake switch went kaput, somehow the car now feels bit sluggish.

Drive over 80km/h will canceled the engine braking feature. So when downhill just press more the accelerator pedal to maintain speed 80km/h

my car just overheat last week, found one of the hose from the radiator cracked and leaked otw to KL. Do you change your own radiator coolant?
The last time my car overheat due to the plastic crack after replacing the workshop just refill water into the radiator.

I also faced the same problem like this before, then I ask my mechanic to really check all the piping and it seem that it has some cracked on it and also check the fins on the radiator. Change both with new parts and fill only coolant, now it is working as usual without over heating issue.

Is my dipstick too close to the hose? Proton took out clean it and apply some glue on it.

I worry to close when engine vibrate will cause the hose leak.

Yeah it's a bit too close to be comfortable. Mine is a bit further away from hose. I suppose when your engine is cold you can always loosen the bracket screw and adjust the position, then tighten it back. Just don't force it too much else the glue give away. By the way i thought it would be easier just to change the o-ring?
