QUOTE(Steponlego @ Nov 6 2020, 03:08 PM) Guys, is it worth keeping a 2008 Persona? Replaced the engine 5 years ago because the timing belt snapped. Now I replaced almost all the front suspension parts, costs me almost 2K already. It still drives wonderfully, sometimes the engine makes some funny noises, but other than that it's still okay with aircond sejuk gila. Mine is 2009. Due to overheat problem, chg almost everything of the engine parts. I will keep it for few years more probably. Auto 4-speed for our car is far more better is drive than the current CVT~

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Dec 5 2020, 12:25 AM) Oof. That probably costs about RM1k at least? I got lucky last year when engine overheat, quickly went to workshop. Only need to replace radiator. A year before that blown head gasket... the feeling when I see exhaust air shooting out from the radiator cap is just horrifying. After that I always make sure to check coolant condition and level. Total close to 3.5K, top overhaul, include crank shaft, etc....

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Dec 23 2020, 11:49 AM) What's the average gas mileage for persona auto? Before this I always see my odometer around 7.6-8L/100km city drive. This year I did a few DIY, cleaned throttle body, cleaned MAP sensor, change engine oil to 10w40 semi synthetic, and I'm seeing that the fuel consumption has increased to 8.8L/100km. My odometer shown 6.7 to 7.5 normally. I do not know how accurate it is btw. After cleaning Throttle Body, some more FC increase?

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Feb 12 2021, 03:59 PM) I'm still trying to figure out how the headlamp works, it seems that the light beam height is adjusted by adjusting the tilt of the reflector. The reflector is pushed by a threaded rod which are turned by the adjustment screw and a right angled gear. However, at some point the adjustment screw in both headlamps simply pops out from the housing. I'm thinking that somehow the reflector refused to move, and instead of pushing the reflector, the right angled gear on the long screw traveled, causing the adjustment screw to pop out. If this happens in just on headlamp, yeah I think it might be an issue of bad unit. But in both, it feels very unlikely. Huh, salute to your passion on adjusting all by your own. Mine headlamp also yellowish for long time.

QUOTE(dannyw @ Aug 4 2021, 09:40 AM) Me too. I have same dilemma, less drive for sure won't hit 5K. Depends on wallet, if ok, go ahead and change it, else drag it until I feel not smooth. Wallet more important, I have to opt for other sections. Gaji banyak potong.... Ya, true. It really depend on wallet level on this pandemic time~

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Oct 19 2021, 08:35 PM) Fan belt 6PK1669 or 6PK1677 ?? My tensioner bearing now vibrating when the A/C compressor is engaged. Last year changed new tensioner bearing, fan belt 6PK1677 but it still vibrating - then I changed alternator pulley: vibration gone. Now the vibration is back but not as bad when the alternator pulley was faulty. Last time using 6PK1677, but check that 6PK1669 also compatible to use.

QUOTE(powerwoot @ Nov 15 2021, 06:30 PM) Done replacing all the necessary parts, mostly rear suspensions and all the connected parts, except lower arm bar. Feel good when take corners, no more feel swinging and those squeaking sound. 2 Goodyear Triplemax assurance, 2 kayaba absorbers, tulang anjing left and right. Now I am going bto replace my engine mount next, any good reliable brand should I go to apart from the original proton. Seems that the original is quite expensive compare to any after market brand. Quite a lot of upgrade. How much damage? Engine mounts not expensive but labor is. This post has been edited by wklow28: Dec 9 2021, 11:51 AM

QUOTE(powerwoot @ Dec 9 2021, 02:25 PM) damaged about rm1.1k, but I am satisfied with the outcome. My 2011 persona is getting younger again at least for coming years of 2 or 3. OIC...good to hear that. Mine is 2009, so urs is elegant version, newer than mine.

Personally I think the acceleration of our model is better compare to the new Persona. The only thing is the steering floating feel is more compared to the newer one. Any suggestion on this? Especially when speed go beyond 110 km/h.

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Jul 27 2023, 01:27 PM) Balancing and alignment all perfect? Some shop will align car wheels to have neutral camber to preserve tyre thread. Think original persona elegance spec will have some negative to it. I also think on that. Will check on it later, thanks.

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Jul 28 2023, 12:59 PM) I replaced everything on the front end and all the suspension parts on the rear. Well worth the money. I had them replaced slowly because lack of funds. If you do it in one go, you'll save more. The car was feeling bit floaty and jumpy when I drive 120km, only after I replaced the rear suspension the car feels solid and planted on the ground. hmm, I replaced engine mounting before. Think need to check all those one more time ~
