Chrono, can i assume that it's an old computer?
"NVRAM update failed" is a symptom that the flash memory chip on the motherboard has literally worn out. In addition to the BIOS code, the NVRAM contains the Windows Plug-and-Play data. EVERY time Windows boots up, it updates the NVRAM, whether the NVRAM contents have changed or not. My suggestion is that you might just change the entire mobo |

This is because the BIOS could not write to the NVRAM block. This
message appears when the FLASH part is write protected or if there is no FLASH part (System uses a PROM or EPROM). i think ur NVRAM might damaged or an error occured inside the chip. 1) did u update ur BIOS? 2) did u install or add new graphic card/ sound card/ 3) did u add or remove memory RAM? try this solution first.. take out the cmos battery and restart ur comp. after that try to put back the cmos battery and restart ur comp again and see.. second solution is try to update ur BIOS version if the problem still same, i think u might change to a new mobo.. ..or send ur comp to shop to detailed the prob This post has been edited by kogula14: May 27 2007, 01:20 AM |

Having the same problem here. It will boot sometime and will hang at "Checking NVRAM" sometimes. Any solution?
My PC is Acer E500 Pentium 4 3.0GHz 512MB ram I bought it in 2006. I also notice that sometime, the PC will auto restart each time I plugin a USB device. This post has been edited by myvi5949: Sep 11 2008, 09:58 AM |
