Hi musician and bands out there, I wanted to initiate the topic to discuss on LIVE MUSIC being performed whether through recordings or live streaming. Yes I'm doing so in conjunction with my band's first ever show on such platform under ROJAK SESSION.
But the main point is to know, how do you all view these platforms as? To discover new music? To experience your favorite local bands?
With that, I'd like to ask and call everyone to share their work or past experience or even an upcoming show that's live recorded here from some platforms such as Rojak Session, The Wknd Session, Kamar Seni and others.
It be great to see if there's any Malaysian act that can feature on the like of NPR TINY DESK or even Jimmy Kimmel Live.. haha.. but thats quite far.. Hey anything is possible..
Congratulations on getting featured, keep up the good work with the band and don't ever give up
While I enjoy these channels & platforms a lot, I don't think they're getting enough attention.. and certainly they deserve better for all the work they put to record the bands. The people doing all of these behind-the-scene are most certainly heroes in keeping the local scene alive... and to give the local bands something to feel excited about. I dare say almost all of them either don't get paid enough, or not paid at all but are doing it out of pure passion. I guess these platforms are just not 'mainstream' enough. You'll most certainly meet some of these heroes in your band's journey.. be sure to thank & praise them!

Agree on that, they are the true hero to the industry. Being an operator/owner of one our local Youtube based motoring platform which has no corporate or formal funding nor capital; we are trying hard to survive alone and the content such as these platforms are not enough to make the platform sustainable...
I see that the Wknd Session has gone on a different path; not making their usual videos; now with a new platform coming on board (Drum Asia LIVE) it seems that the same pattern may be repeating.
I actually put the responsibility towards both the artist and the platform to work further together in getting more and more corporate supports.
