definitely not... it doesn't work that way..
the size of data exceeds the new storage capacity... u will need to do a fresh install..

Depend on your used space on th 1tb hdd. Is it bigger than 120gb.

Do a fresh installation instead of migration
Way better

you may need fresh installation but before you do that, get the original product key.

heyy.. u know what.. i take back what i said previously..
if your OS installation size is smaller than that new SSD, you can actually migrate the OS over without the other files.. there's a software called Paragon Disk manager =)
i'm planning to migrate mine using that soon

lots of free software out there. just make sure your USED hdd space don't exceed 80% of ssd space. software will automatically adjust

If you are making the move to a smaller SSD drive, you will need to delete a few files off of it to make sure the process completes.
A good place to start is by looking in folders such as My Videos (often has lots of very large files within), then My Music (loads of music collected over the years), then My Documents. Once your backup has completed and you have verified the data is properly backed up, then delete the data within these folders but not the folders themselves, as you may need them later.
It is important to note that we don't want to delete applications in the Program Files folder. This is because we also want them to benefit from the speed boost that an SSD has.

I hope this helps!

https://www.ubackup.com/articles/clonezilla...-disk-4348.html

Use AOMEI Backupper Standard most easiest method to clone, or alternatively go for Clonezilla clone to smaller disk:

1. Open Disk Management in Windows 10/8/7. If you are running Linux system, you can boot your computer from GParted media.
2. Right click the source partition & click “Shrink Volume”, follow the wizard to shrink the partition.
3. When you get that done, reboot to Clonezilla.
4. Select the source disk & destination disk.
5. Choose EXPERT mode & enable “-icds” option. Also choose "Resize partitional table proportionally" in following menus.
6. Configure other Clonezilla options if needed & then type in “y” to confirm to start the clone.

In this way, you should be able to clone larger drive to smaller drive without receiving the error like Clonezilla failed to create a partition table on this disk. However, some users may feel this is too complicated and cumbersome. In addition, it also needs lots of steps to finish the whole cloning process. And it’s possible to meet Clonezilla failed to clone issue due to the bad sector on your disk.

Can if only your data at 1TB HDD use not more than 100GB. You need to left some free space for the windows to work properly.

Macrium Reflex got option to do this and I did before, success.

As long as your current Windows don't have issue. Clone is the faster way and it will act same as it is before.

SSD is already so cheap. Why don't you get bigger size SSD? But also depend on what software you using.

I do use Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effect. So I got my M2 SSD at 500GB. I still got 360GB free space.

Other software and games I installed on my normal 1TB HDD.

Fresh install yes.

Move...I don't think so.

OS does not work like that.
