looking for advise on setting up self-signed SSL for tomcat without a domain name (using IP)
My current https website frontend is unable to call my http api server is on Gcloud using IP : x.x.x.x (requires Https on api server as well)
would appreciate a helping hand.
This thing happened to me too, and I came across this software to fix my problem
It works perfectly for my AWS EC2 ubuntu php server with a fixed IP address. You can have a look how the certificate looks like through browser here : https://leewp14.nsupdate.info/rem-official/
(now I use ddns service to get a pretty hostname :3 thus not self-signing server IP now)
Additionally, this certbot has a cron job to autorenew the ssl cert (which expires every 90days), thus you no need to manually renew the cert.
My situation is kind of same with you haha, http is my api server and https frontend wouldn't send request to it, I almost try to turn my website to http in order to have my api work with my site
