Firmware is correct.

But strange.... on top of "TV HDR Mode", there should be another option "Video color space & HDMI deep color".

Check settings, playback... i set all to auto except spdif to raw.

May I know when you bought your player?

I'm also experiencing this as well. I had an older Q10pro that had those functions but sold off. Now this latest unit that I currently use doesn't appear those functions just like you console.gif

not sure but i think if a 10 bit file plays, it is played in original.

older 8 bit players that are not capable of 10bit will just give u a black screen.

i doubt that is possible.

bdmv structure is a series of m2ts files; orig subs are embedded into these serial files.

ext subs like srt is one single text, can only be read together with a single container like mkv.

Found the solution! Just add those srt or ass files into the same folder (same folder level with bdmv folder, but not inside bdmv folder), after that you can select them from “menu” button or “subtitle” button from the remote control, pls refer below, those external sub biggrin.gif

Of course you can’t select those external sub from Blu-ray full menu navigation there tongue.gif

i see...

one thing i like to share with u... maybe u can do more tests on yr brand new equipment...

those 4k bdmv are typically 2160p hevc 10 bit HDR.

i do not like them much i find them "unnatural" about the bright and the dark.

so, i try some 2160p 10 bit SDR - they come out better!

in the quest for the best, i come to witness several things...

.. there is no std for "hdr" - there is hdr, hdr8, hdr10, hdr10+, hdr12, wcg, hlg, dv... what a blardy mess!
.. maybe flaws with the rips? maybe flaws with video makers? processing?
.. or u must use rm5k players, rm15k TV's and rm10K avr's?
.. there is 1080p HDR, 2160p 8bit SDR... all kinds of variations.

at this time, i m not thrilled by "hdr", much less for DV... feels like a gimmick to me... make u spend more $ for nothing!! laugh.gif

How you change from 4K hdr source to 10 bit SDR? Tv will auto change to hdr mode once detected hdr source, right? By the way, my himedia can’t change the “bit” setting....

Correct, q10pro does not hv option to force hdr to sdr.
So, u find the files that are sdr... they exist... not in bdmv, though.

Another way is to use a player that has the option in settings to force hdr to sdr.
I have one of those... However, i find this way is not as good.
While the brightness is toned down to be more eye friendly, the overall vibrancy is also reduced.

From my tests with various files, players and tvs, i can also see each component can produce slightly diff results.
Perhaps my equipment isnt good enough to bring out the best in hdr.
Then again, i m not ready to spend a fortune to change all the pieces!
Hopefully in a few years time, things get clearer and more affordable when i need to upgrade.

tried few same movies (below). even though my OLED have the capability to upscale the 1080P to 4k, but i will still stick with 4K HDR, the variant to my eye is huge, the 4K HDR is significant better! biggrin.gif

Movies i tried with Disc (1080P SDR which bough from Amazon US few years back, play with Sony bluray player) vs BDMV folder (4k HDR, play with Q10 pro)
1.) Batman Begin
2.) Dark Knight
3.) Dark Knight raises
4.) Alien
5.) Gladiator

no... not comparing upscaled 1080p SDR with 2160p HDR - that, result is clear.
well, i hope u get a chance to compare... 2160p hevc HDR vs 2160p hevc SDR.
but like i said, a lot may depend on yr home theater, how good or poor each component handles them.
(i am quite sure i don't have the best equipment!)

on the broader subject, there are now some new box players that offer some new features but no idea if they work well.
e.g. this new one with a new powerful AML 922x chipset.
check out time 2:12 to 2:38 - dolby atmos, dolby vision capabilities.

i actually doubt it has DV certification... may work for a while, though.

some of these boxes use "fake" methods, just like some fake widevine L1 for netflix HD.

then again, this box is priced $140 or rm500-600... not rm1k, 2k, 3k...
