Hey there, since UPUOnline results are out.
I was wondering how many of the people in this sub-section of this forum gotten a place in IPTA using Private Institute Qualifications for Pre-U/Diploma Accepted by UPU.
Hence, the reason of the survey.

I did Cambridge A Levels in 2015. Got into USM's Mathematics program (second choice), but won't attend. Preferred UM's Mathematics when I applied.

Hey Maxis! Long time never seen you already.
Sadly, UM doesn't have direct intake tho for that course... sweat.gif

So, you're planning to appeal manually?

You do know it is people over at UPUOnline approve which university you are going to right...?
Do update me, if you gotten UM.

What do you mean by "direct intake"? The one you need to spend close to a hundred thousand ringgit? Not willing to pay so much.

Only those who didn't get offers get to appeal. Not sure what you mean by appealing manually, but I'm not going to appeal, will most probably study at XMUM instead.

Yes, that one, particularly for Engineering.

Sad, meanwhile most of the people struggle to even get in with external qualifications sweat.gif
Because I remember a few STPM seniors, gotten a university very far away, they requested a transfer to another university offering the similar course. Not sure it can be still done tho, but it was around 2012-ish...

You can communicate in Mandarin right? Else finding friends in XMUM seems harsh. hmm.gif

Can anyone help me?

My first option is UM LAW and I was called to attend the interview. After getting the application result today which is a fail, I decided to appeal but UM LAW is NOT one of the available options. However UKM which initially WASN'T is now one of the options. Is UKM good overall and specifically for law? Any issues? favouritism? And most importantly do I still have a chance of entering UM? thanks!

I suppose (Pure) Mathematics is one of the "cold courses". Many don't even know that you can study mathematics at uni.

Yeah... Location wise Penang is pretty cool. It's the course offering of the program that makes me think twice about taking the offer.

Yes, my momma's a Chinese. Communicating with students from China will be a little bit harder, I suppose, so I've got lots to learn...

wew gotten interview too blink.gif
Most likely you failed because of AS results, if your timing is right.
Temp. Copy for Statement of Results should be out on the same day, just need certified by true copy for that document.

well UKM isn't that bad, just scared some courses is conducted in BM only.

Maybe try seeking "Devin Ky" for assistance laugh.gif
What type of Maths course you even looking for? Actuarial Sciences? Applied Maths?
And what is now being offered to you in USM? Pure or Applied?

Means, can listen mostly local Mandarin then. hmm.gif
Still okay lah.

Your question proves my point. Actuarial Science isn't mathematics...

I applied to do a mathematics degree for both universities. I got USM, which is the course I applied for, but perhaps you're misunderstanding why I am not so keen on the program structure. It's because most professors there do research on more applied fields, and hence the more theoretical courses they offer are quite limited.

Happened to me last year, i didnt get into any uni when UPU came out because my ALevel result hadnt been released yet. So I called the uni to hold a place for me till the result came out. Call your uni, ask them why you werent selected (was it because of your interview?) but most likely its because of the ALevel result.

My friend who also did ALevel got into UM in their 2nd intake I believe after battling with the admission too. My take is I hope you wouldbt consider waiting another year.

That's good news. I called to ask about it. They wouldn't tell me whether I passed my interview or not. Apparently it's a secret. But they asked me to write a letter of appeal after I get my results. Hope that my A levels results are ok.... so nervouss

Yes I did write my appeal letter and send it to the Dean of Department. Call, email and make a letter on the day of your result to let them know of your result. Ask them to hold a place for you.

1 page of formal letter should be enough.

Before the result, tell them to hold a placement for you and reevaliate your application until youve received your ALevel result on what date.

After the result, send another letter with an attached result.

Try to get into contact with the officer of the uni that is in charge with student admission, to let them keep you up to date of your application.

ok ... will they actually hold a place? and is a screenshot of the results from CIE's website sufficient ? Or does it need any form of certification ?

If youre actually eligible in the first place but didnt get a place because of your result, perhaps they will. Let them know of your situation.

I think have the option to print from CIE, I cant recall, butbif anything make sure youre printed material is certified but your college, at least your uni would know they are authentic.

I am currently taking my A2 exam, kinda regret for choosing A level instead of STPM. Study abroad seems impossible for me, even private uni's are expensive too.

I am thinking of applying UPU next year, but I afraid that it might be a waste of time since I need to wait till August and have a great chance of fail. I wonder should I apply UPU or just go straight to UTAR ?

If your A-Level results are good, most likely you can get in, most of the time Engineering, Medic, and Pure Maths course got people gotten in so far lah.

Can't study overseas, can study local, government can supply you PTPTN.
What courses in particular you're looking to join tho?

Most institute really give Scholarships based on A-Levels results and with minor interview... Or the current university does.

Just remember to apply for Scholarships before you apply for PTPTN.

Just spend that few months working part time, earn a few savings for uni, or atleast learn for to drive. sweat.gif

Imho, for Engineering please get back into IPTA, as UM/UKM have direct intake route if you failed to get in via UPUOnline.

RM 90k for UM ; RM 69k for UKM.

https://afterschool.my/articles/second-chan...blic-university
https://engine.um.edu.my/media/articles/201...duate-programme

Most probably because Engineering Faculty in IPTS most of them are bad, and doesn't offer you good training in operating instruments, your options are typically is "MMU/UCSI/TARUC/UTAR" for the cheaper options.

Whereas the premium options are Monash / Nottingham / Taylors , if you can get yourself a scholarship there .

Personally if possible do well in your A2 levels, try to get back into IPTA.
Don't cry over split milk if you didn't do STPM. Also STPM isn't for everyone, since General Paper / Pengajian Am is harsh to those weak in English.

Well PTPTN can get maximum 43k for IPTS, [not sure for IPTA running direct intakes]
Hopefully you can work your way through lah.
Else UKM also not bad one.

Will recommend applying Engineering through via the 12 options in this way:
UM -> USM -> UTM -> UPM -> UKM ...

Ok, thanks for your advice, btw, A2 exam left only P5 of chem and phy, personally felt there is not much hope for A* in these 2 subjects, hope can do well in the remaining papers.

Come on left 2 papers only don't give up! Even without A* I'm sure As should be enough for more scholarships.

I have a question, does any of those who entered UM/USM take MUET march session? If does, do they able to submit their MUET result on time before interview take place?

I'm pretty sure MUET now updates in UPU automatically. So no need to worry about that.

Ya, I knew that, but some said interview starts before MUET result release, and if without MUET result, they won't even consider you for the interview.

Normal some even wait until next year.
Else just apply into UM / USM / UTM via direct route.
Please don't end up in UCSI if you plan to do Engineering tho

UM doesn't offer direct intake for courses besides engineering
Wait till next year is definitely a no-no for me, taking a level is already a step behind the others, can't afford to lose one more year
Currently doing applied maths in UTAR, guess I will just continue here if the rayuan fail

Well with your grades. Scholarship isnt any of your concerns.
Just find a better university to do a Maths Degree?

Erm I think an A Level student here is doing degree in Maths.
Well just walkin directly to UM and USM enrollment center and ask?

UM does offer something similar or was it USM need to check my previous threads.

During the first rayuan, I chose 4 maths & CS courses from UM, but then I got an email from UPU stated that they misplaced these courses. Most of the UM courses suddenly became unavailable and those who chose them were required to make a change. The courses left for UM are all those unpopular courses such as Tamil, Arab, and Geology.

So, I went for my backup choice, which is maths and stats from UKM and ee and chem engineering from UTM. I didn't get anything from first rayuan and now I finally get something from upu 2nd rayuan, but it is not even a course from my list, which is chem-bioprocess engineering.

I will not accept this offer, it's better for me to study what I want in IPTS than what I'm not interested in IPTA.

Please PM me your results.
go to UM / USM / UTM and ask.

Try to "ACCEPT" this letter and force them to change to actual Engineering. I guess.
You might need to exchange emails with the Dean of UTM, from the likelihood of it.

Or you can be the few who paid RM 75k (UKM) or 90k (UM) for IPTA for Engineering

Please consult me on your E&E placement. If your grades are good, getting a scholarship into Nottingham / Monash / Southampton isn't a big deal for you.
So did you applied for NTU/NUS?

Hello! Thanks Lots For Replying, sorry for late replying.

1.
Based on these requirement you've stated , is it means that as long as I meet the requirement(as a non bumiputera) then I'll be accepted which just like usual private institute?

For an example
Assuming
(I've scored 8-9A's in SPM)
(I've achieved a ATAR 85 or 90 (requirement is 80) )
(fulfilled MUET requirement )

Then I apply the UM's Satu Program.
*Will I definitely get an offer from UM?* Just like Private University as long as we meet the entry requirement then we are ensured to get an offer from them.

By SATU, is it still going to be competitive? or just by some words

Generally, what grades(ATAR/A-Level) do people usually have who enter UM do by SATU?

2.
I'm thinking to enrol in Sunway Ausmat in this March/April intake and try to apply UM by 2022 Sept intake.
So ya.. the difficulty of entering UM is one of the most important issues I have to consider.

Otherwise after AUSMAT examination (12/2021) I need to wait till September(2022) and apply to UM. If I failed to get in then GG, haha missed March intake and wasted 9 months X).

Few more question and I really appreciate if you can answer me hehe. thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

a) When is the usual application starting date for SATU program. ( Official website isn't stated )
b) How long will it take to know the result after application? (After deadline then we'll only know?)
c) and the questions in (1)

Appreciate your effort for replying and Thanks in advance.
Cheers wub.gif

You can start your AUSMAT course now... sweat.gif Don't take the express route unless you able to complete the Year 11/12 syllabus in such a short time.
You might be late for a few days of classes better than you scramble for your ATAR grades.

(a) Just contact the enrollment team I think their whatsapp is listed there.
(b) They will inform you, or you can check back with them.

They still reserve rights to accept or reject you, they are still a prestigious University afterall. Hence you meet their minimum requirement or better, then surely no issues at all.

Haha, I want to start in January too...
But I'm 2020 SPM candidate, postponed to this Febr-March. no choice sad.gif

a)Have contacted their whatsapp. Their quota for each course is 50 huhu. Seems like it's still very competitive.
