"OCZ today announced it has acquired American supplier of power supply units PC Power & Cooling. Originally founded in 1985, PC Power & Cooling has been a front runner in ultra high-performance power supplies and cooling solutions. OCZ aims to expand its product line through the acquisition, increase its R&D resources, and establish the organization as the leading provider of power-supply solutions." http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=7448good new for us. at least the cost to own one of their psu LOGICALLY will be lower seen that OCZ is more toward mainstream and enthusiast. IMO, I don't think that will be a reason for OCZ lowering the price for PCP&C PSU's since the PCP&C PSU's prices are very expensive because of their parts & built quality. The same with what powerslide said, PCP&C will still be PCP&C. It's just a rebranding.

Getting Started

|
PC Power & Cooling is not gone. Aquiring a company doesn't mean revamping the whole management. Or else why don't you see AMD X2900XT? Why is there still Alienware and they still provide high end systems?
So price probably won't be affected.

i believe there was an article on xbitlabs or anandtech before about PSUs.. can't remember which one but confirm it's one of those hardware review sites.. they said that PSU is actually one of the cheapest part to manufacture and have the highest profit margin. Most if not all PSUs on the market today are sourced from China where the production cost of the PSU is ridiculously low. Price is then jacked up to earn the huge profit margin.

New update. There is still PCP&C. And their PSU is still there, no change in names. It's just that PCP&C is now under new management of OCZ. That's all. So basically, PCP&C is still PCP&C. There's no such things as "PCP& Is No More"

QUOTE(toughnut @ Jun 15 2007, 10:18 AM) Just like Alienware bought by Dell and VooDooPC by HP. still operating with separated management Yeah. So the result, PCP&C won't reduce the price.
