Today's conundrum.

We know time is limited and precious. Every second should be spent on anything fruitful. Preferably training.

After a hard workout on bike, do you wash your bike? Or just crash on the sofa getting your much needed recovery? Recovery is part of training. So don't you think it is more beneficial to just skip cleaning ur bike and get some recovery instead?

Hi.

Just signed up for my first event in October - Perdana builders in Putrajaya.

I sweat a lot - it always looks like I peed myself after a run. So I would pee on the bike because no one would notice.

I have 0 cycling skillz and knowledge but that cycling thread doesn't seem particularly useful.

For most events they're about the same biggrin.gif

Some might have slightly different racking..

I think most important of all is to know where your bicycle is located at, you do not want to waste minutes or seconds when it comes to searching for your bike.

Next.. Always remember to put on your helmet first before leaving the transition area..

Most races would have a line / carpet to indicate that there is where you should stop / start pedalling.. If you are familiar with the flying mount by all means do it but be careful for those who are around you.. biggrin.gif

Last but not least, do enjoy your race and take it as an experience! Have fun and good luck! biggrin.gif

Not for my height! seriously - I'm going around trying to come in below RM4k for a slightly better than entry level bike and I cannot find any large frames for my 182cm build.

edit: looking at facebook now...

anyone knows what langkawi IM will be serving? in terms of drinks and gels? what brand / what type?

oh and

"Please do take note of the IRONMAN ruling on a nonwetsuit
race, clothing covering any part of the arms
below the elbow and clothing covering any of the leg
below the knee is deemed illegal equipment and is
not permitted. Compression wear may NOT be worn
DURING non-wetsuit swims, but may be worn upon the
completion of the swim"

compression tech on trisuits that doesn't cover neck, forearms and lower leg still not allowed?

You can run through the athlete guide book

100% sure they're using high5 gels

Not sure what isotonic drinks but I think it's 100plus

For the rules

As long as it doesn't cover neck, forearms and lower leg you're fine..

Which trisuit are you using that is covering your whole body? I think the item you were referring to is a wetsuit?

derosa fliuit, no it doesn't cover arms, lower legs and neck, but it does have compression. so the AIG says "Compression wear may NOT be worn DURING non-wetsuit swims, but may be worn upon the completion of the swim" which is what concerns me.

thx for the gel/hydration update.

Oh those are fine then..

The compression they're talking about are like compression calve and arm sleeves

Heard many crashes on the bike coz the datai stretch was really slippery in the rain.

Saw a few guys running with arm slings, 1 Indian guy looked like broke his wrist or arm and still running.

Nevernindlah just learn from the effort.

My first tri was a bit of a disaster and what I learnt is that I need to learn how to cycle properly 😂

I’m going to try the 70.3 in Langkawi next year so 2019 is going to be a lot of base training and working on my limitations for me!

Finished the Aquathlon in Pantai Klebang, Melaka over the weekend. swim conditions... were not so great. Shallow, muddy, zero visibility

Now seeing this was my 2nd multi-sport event, the first being the triathlon in Putrajaya - which was only slightly less muddy - are all the local swim legs like this?

Any good events to look forward to in 2019?

Congratulations!! No it's not actually, most of the swims on the west coast are pretty much murky and it's something that we all have to get use to it!

East coast like Trengganu shores are beautiful! The seas are clear until you reach the deeper part of the sea!

PSA: Ironman/70.3 Langkawi is on early bird currently.

Just committed to the 70.3.

Also Tri-ing PD in April - my first OD. I'm behind on my training hours currently though but in it for the long haul.

Hi,

May i know normally around how much for a 70m triathlon?

Because i saw some is around rm 420 (http://www.113triathlon.com/113-desaru-johor/)

some is around rm 1200
(https://eu.ironman.com/triathlon/events/asiapac/ironman-70.3/langkawi/register.aspx#axzz61Y5et88N)

Am quite confused as the range is too wide.

It's the ironman brand. You get more race entitlements and they're less likely to mess up race organisation.

In (19 April) 2020 Desaru will be upgrading to 70.3 ironman and the price right now is already USD330. Ironman prices are in this range.

TBH I don't have much faith in 113 as an organiser. This year they organised an aquathlon in Melaka in low tide which meant crap swimming conditions, and for the Olympic distance in Melaka they messed up the medals. I actually got the finisher medal posted to me even though I was a DNS tongue.gif
