Many people here can buy graphics card above RM1000, tapi when talk about chairs, some are using the kopitiam plastic chairs

I am looking for decent office chairs, with proper height adjust, lumbar support and armrest adjust. Headrest is optional.
Don't give me that Ikea crap (no armrest adjust), and the Aeron is too rich for my blood.

My company uses a mix of Haworth and Steelcase chairs, so I know how good they are. I am sitting on a Haworth Look.
Haworth has a showroom near Plaza Lolyat, but does anyone know the price? Haworth Zody comes highly recommended.
Steelcase is known to be hard to deal with, especially individuals, I am still trying to get the price for the Steelcase Think. Leap might be too hot for our weather?

AM-office sells this mesh chair from Ergohuman but it is RM2000+
http://amoffice.com.my/product/ergohuman/

I found Deltaonline selling the IOO series. It basically comes from the same manufacturer as the Ergohuman in AM-office, just slightly cheaper materials
http://www.deltaonline.com.my/cart/product...itle:IOO+Series

The same manufacturer also makes a series called Enjoy (aka Workpro quantum mesh chair in US). The Enjoy series is used by major companies in China. But I cannot find this locally. Not in Penang anyway.

Does /k have any thoughts?

EDIT:
Called the distributor for Steelcase chairs in Penang. Steelcase Think is RM1200-RM1300, Leap is RM2600+
Steelcase Let's B is RM900 in penang. Think chair is actually RM1800 laugh.gif

Motorized desks with memory cost more than RM1000. When leg tired still need to sit back on plastic chair

QUOTE(Eralus @ Jul 30 2018, 01:25 PM)
Same design as DX Racer.
Why do people think that these are good chairs anyway? Too much hype, PU leather = heat, and don't have lumbar support adjust. Also, PU leather breaks after few years into pieces. I saw some DXracer come with waist pillow as an afterthought for lumbar support. Chairs from reputable manufacturers (HM, Steelcase) can last upwards of 10 years.

In the end what did you get?

Worse come to worse I can order from Taobao and get it shipped here (sea shipment cost about Rm150-Rm200). More options in China.

I agree, chairs are incredibly important. Racing chairs is the worst, i hate how curved in the chairs , you can't fold you legs properly etc. Just so many design no-no.

Yes. Forgot to mention about Okamura.

Which Okamura did you get, Slyphy? contessa? Portone? Do you have more information about the price?
Are the seats hot if the room is just windows and fan?

Noble Chair, even though my friends use while Gaming on PC or watching Kekdrama, should be good for office too

Edit: both friends give many thumbs up from their experience, even until today one praised his back no longer hurts from gaming for long hours. Dota also more power now maybe automatic Divine every game.

Best chair for me was this Faux leather chair I used during uni bought from Officeworks when I was overseas. Around Rm300++
I basically lived on that chair! Sat until cushion at buttock gone

Any good models that doesn't have roller wheels to recommend? My room doesn't have carpet and rollers actually not good for me when I'm feeding in game. Prefers those Non rollers comfortable for long hours chair. Hope there's showroom in JB !

those branded chairs cost upwards of 5k+ sometimes, they have lots of adjustment like lambar support, neck rest, hand rest adjustments, can slide the chair front or back, can swivel left right, and most importantly can last a very long time.

I just use the ikea office chair, it's working fine after 5 years, though not alot of adjustment options.

honestly those "gaming" chairs are ugly as hell and they are NOT comfortable at all, plus they get very very hot and sweaty after long hours of sitting because there is literally zero ventilation on the chairs, somemore leather just make things worse.

Get an office chair better, get those with cushion seats and mesh backrest so you don't burn your butt and back.

Steelcase Leap

Bought V2 about a year back .. excellent chair and no more back pain.

Expensive though ... paid close to 4K including headrest etc

But I spend probably 12 hours a day in it, so it’s worth it

Try Herman miller the best office chair

Mesh chairs are good if you need to fart. But they have the tendency to sag if you sit too long. Hence your butt sits lower than the edge lip. This causes the edge lip to press on the back of your thigh, cutting circulation to the leg. The effect is more pronounced in overweight people.

Steelcase Leap

Bought V2 about a year back .. excellent chair and no more back pain.

Expensive though ... paid close to 4K including headrest etc

But I spend probably 12 hours a day in it, so it’s worth it
*
Penang distributor quote me Rm2600 without headrest ready stock. Some forumer shared that they got it for RM1700 before our currency drop 3 years ago.

Where did you get your leap chair from?

Exercise ball means you have to sit upright, which is very tiring. And exercise ball has no lumbar support
I don't agree with the recommendation that you have sit upright 100% of the time. It is good for your upper body i.e. neck and shoulders, but your lower spine will be bearing the bulk of the load.

Like everything, your spine also needs some rest. As such, at times, you need to sit reclined so that your lower back can take some rest. But reclining will load your upper body, and strain the neck.
The good way is to sit multiple positions, so that different part of your body takes the load on average.

Here is a blog that I think would explain better than me.

For the past few months I've been doing back exercises (deadlifts, rows, pull ups, face pulls, etc) and generally being active.. and I find that I don't desire ergonomic chairs as much as I used to. Something to think about smile.gif

You can google around. Many websites says they are good. Many websites also says they are bad.
I think they are bad.

If you disagree with me, you can buy one and try for yourself. They are pretty cheap, less than RM100.

Some brands based on feedback. Depends on your budget

Okamura (xtra furniture Gardens)
- Contessa 4k++

Herman Miller (Some forumers says Gardens got)
Aeron - 6k++
Embody - 9k++

Ergohuman Mesh(Am-office) - 2k++

IOO Mesh Chair (Delta office) - not sure price. expect less than 2k

Steelcase (contact KL steelcase, should be in Gardens)
- Think - 1.3k++
- Leap - 2.6k++
Steelcase carries a big range of cheap to expensive chairs. You can look for their catalogue.
My office has a bunch of Let's B chairs, probably under 1k. They are pretty decent if your budget is tight.

Haworth (Somewhere near plaza lolyat). Got comments in reddit says Haworth have bad reliability
- Zody - ??
- Look - ?? (this is the chair that I sit on in office. It has more features, but I feel that the Let's B is slightly better)

Lower end, go get Ikea Markus
Cheapest - get kopitiam plastic chair

Others I might left out.
Things to note:

Chairs are mechanical things. So its best if it is good warranty, as mechanical parts can wear out.

Hi there,

Did you successfully contact Steelcase Malaysia (Garden)?? Been calling the office number but not in service. Or Steelcase Malaysia already close shop.

Just contacted Zenith, and Think is currently price at 1.8k - 2k depending on the frame colour.

Kind of strange, on telephone sales representative mention pricing around 1.8k to 2.2k.

But after emailing them with more detail spec. Get quoted for 2.1k to 2.6k.

Online ordering like doing the selection of chair material?? (I think not possible). I can't find this feature in Zenith website neither the actual Steelcase website as well.

But if you did email Zenith, please glance through your spam box for their reply.

Can't find any other full mesh chair around this price point. Gonna be so much better in the heat.

Check this out? My new office's furnitures are all brought from WYSen. Their quality is really good and satisfying with the price.

Check them out! https://wysen.com/about-us/

Tried Steelcase Leap ~3k, Okamura Contessa ~4k, Ergohuman ~2k. All comfortable but cant feel the 1k different, so end up buying Ergohuman. Steelcase abit overprice, i think the materials they used do not match with the price.
