After the update of new grab apps interface, i realise that the price has increased by RM1. I notice this because i use grab for the same route almost everyday and the distance ia not far, the price has always been RM5 but now it has been fluctiating around RM5-6. Anyone feeling same as me?

Yes. I started taking uber to go home with fare about rm82 inclusive tolls whatever.

Then i tested grab. It also around rm85 but exclude toll.

After merger, the fare become 91 to 95 exclude toll. When surge it goesup to 120+ to the highest 158 which is ridiculous.

The distance is about 75km.

Go look at Taxi rate and judge grab fare rate. Without surge i am pretty sure is below RM1.5 per km.

Look at the demand because of the rain, consider yourself lucky because surge at RM1, i've seen customer paying RM13 for about 2km ride.

And before complain expensive, have u try to hail taxi? AFAIK taxi rate is RM3 (First 1km or 3min), then additional RM2 for booking at your doorstep. That alone cost RM5 for the first km. Go and try it out and compare with Grab fare.

A lot of young generation complain this and that never been through the past ages where taxi charge absurd upfront fare and their bad attitude. doh.gif

Uber n grab have offered an alternative to the riders to change their transportation pattern. Before Uber n grab, only taxi available, how many riders are willing to take taxi unless they have no other better alternative. For short distance, many riders rather choose to walk instead of taking the taxi quoting rm20 for a short ride.

Because of the emergence of Uber n grab, many people willing to take up ehailing due to convinience of smart phone n more affordable fare rather than i called it cheap. The behaviour of riders has changed slowly n now sikit sikit want to take cab or ehailing.

If one day ehailing becomes like taxi, hard to get n price is not that affordable anymore, riders behaviour might change especially if got other alternative.

Riders needs the drivers n drivers need ridets to co-exist. Only a win win situation can ensure this business can go longer

pick up one rider from TBS last Sunday evening. Normal price w/o surge price....and usually on Sunday evening price from TBS was higher.

when price low, rider happy2 not complain.
suddenly one day, price up due to high demand or insufficient supply of supply, they complained like shit in social media. claiming taxi was cheaper.

U all still don't understand why the cheap fare exist in the first place, it was Uber and Grab cutting throat each other to gain market share, u think Uber driver want to drive u 75km for that pathetic low fare after commission, think twice about that, and that is why the major shift of Uber driver hop to Grab while Grab giving lots of incentive back then. The balance u mention is long gone when Uber keep cutting its fare, without surge or boost, Uber earning for driver is just pathetic low without those. Uber is subsidizing a lot by giving out incentive and boost back then before the sell out.

Fare increase - Yes
Rewards point reduce - Yes
Push u to use Grabpay to earn more grab points - Yes

U still naive think that low fare subsidize to customer will forever exist in your life? they are not charity organization, they are profit seeking company to earn something from u, be it now or future, now u can see why they keep promote their grabpay after they become no.1. Their motive is to push their e-wallet become leader in SEA and become another version of alipay or wechatpay. Once they set foot in this huge eco-system, they have bargaining power to negotiate with all the merchant and customer, then start to earn something from u. After all i still see Grab as a technology Company and eat up chunk of market share for taxi industry.

Dont get me wrong. Willing rider willing driver. When no driver, riders will find alternative way. If really cannot cari makan being a grab driver, then drive taxi perhaps might help.

Well I used Mycar the other day and the rates charged were RM13 in comparison with Grab's rate of RM32. Grab monopoly since buyout of Uber has really upped the fares for consumers.

last week had a rider told me price difference between cash & grabpay.
apparently, same exact ride is RM5 on grabpay & RM8 on cash.
Also, it seem the reward points is lower now, and rider need to spend more points to redeem RM5

Well, i don't care about their rewards..for a driver, its a big difference between RM5 & RM8...i wonder if his claim is true. if it is, while its a beneficial to all when grabpay is used, it can't be at the expense of a lower earning for driver.
