Hi , i am using looking external monitor 27' for photo editing. And i am using macbook pro retina 2012
May i know should i go for thunderbolt display (A1407) or Dell ultrasharp?
Some ppl selling RM1500 for used apple thunderbolt display.

Should i go for Dell or thunderbolt?

Please advice, i worry that thunderbolt color may not sync with macbook pro retina.

Check out Viewsonic VP2768, the official monitor from Canon PhotoMarathon, which accurate for photographer, photo editing.

I'm currently using Dell UltraSharp 2414H, lovely monitor.

Now the latest monitor I tried is the VP2468 from ViewSonic and my goodness, color looks excellent right out of the box without me having to do calibration.

I'm confident that the VP2768 that Jet144 mentioned above will be the same, after all it's the higher model of the same series.

You need (should) have a color aware workflow if that is what you are after. 100% sRGB is good for most purposes with factory calibrated monitors. However if you print your images, you will need to calibrate the monitor and your printer for color matching.

That would very much depend on the quality the one doing the print.

For me I get print experts to do printing for me, as long as my color is accurate on my side the print will be the same or at least very close.

If I were to print on my own then it would be as you mentioned, I'll have to match it so I know what I'll get on the output.

Correct. Both monitor and printer color profiles need to match if you print on your own. What you see is exactly what you print.

Recently purchased a Dell Ultrasharp 4k with factory calibration and displayed color does not seem right. Not pulled out the colorimeter to verify yet. Build quality is average unlike previous generations of Ultrasharp (have 3 Ultrasharp).

Buyer be aware. Dell support seems to be quite questionable of late and probably bought my last Dell.

Currently using Dell U2414H and VP2468. Your selection looks like 27" models of what I'm using.

Based on my latest test, I'll go with the VP2768.
