With Raise to Wake activated on both scenarios:

On my iPhone 8 Plus, when I raise my phone, the screen lights up. When I place my hand back down, the screen turns off immediately.

On my iPhone X, when I raise my phone, the screen lights up. When I place my hand back down, screen remains lighted up. Why is this? I have tried resetting my phone etc but this issue still persists. This causes battery drain as sometimes, the phone lights up in my bag and the screen remains on for longer than expected before turning off.

Can anyone please help? Is this normal? I have tested the compass app and can confirm my iPhone X's IMUs are working well.

My iPhone X raise to wake works just like your iPhone 8. Maybe there is some issue with your iPhone X. I never like the feature anyway, scared battery drain due to "unnecessary" wake. biggrin.gif

Are you using face ID on your X? If you are, sometimes the X face ID is able to capture your face even tho you are not directly facing the phone, hence your iPhone X is unlocked and go into sleep mode as per your settings. So it's best to off (sleep mode) your phone before you place it into your bag.

believe is the face id, it take sometime to read ur face (or any object) so it doesn't turn off immediately. I tried just now. if u just raise and avoid showing ur face, when u put down screen turn off immediately. but if it got a chance to scan ur face for a while, it won't off immediately when u put down...

Hmm you’ve got a good point here bro.
The thing is sometimes I realize my phone turns on in my bag lol. Like when I open my bag, the screen is already on. Man guess I should just turn RTW off but I’m so used to it.

Lol no. Touch only responds to finger touches. Not object touches. You can try by using your pen to tap on the screen and see if it lights up.

Yeah. i think rtw is pointless on iphone x, you still need to swipe ur phone up even after the wake unlike other iPhones where ur phone is already unlocked and enter the homescreen by the time it wake (provided ur finger is on the touch id la) sweat.gif
