I would like to have a secondhand Mercedes W212 Facelift.
I choosing between E300 and E250.
I worry E300 maintenance will be higher due to its hybrid and diesel engines.
Will its fuel efficiency cover the cost of maintenance in long run?
Will it need frquent visit to service center for maintenance as I may not have time to send it for repair every few month.

Thank you. Appreciate every single tips and advise.

from the other recent thread on someone wanting to buy a used E300d, the cost of battery replacement is RM90k.

Now ask yourself do you use even half of that on petrol for a span of 10 years?

"Lifetime" of the vehicle is quite subjective to a lot of factors, driver personality, environmental factors (Malaysia hot af) and also how lucky you are to get a battery that will still work great over the years. Quite irresponsible of them to claim it'll last the "lifetime" of the car.

To the car manufacturer, 'lifetime' means the lifetime of the product, when production ends, so does the 'lifetime'. So u better believe in warranty period (that's still available), rather than lifetime promise.

BMW once claimed the ATF in their gb is SEALED FOR LIFE.

Hyundai also followed with the "SEALED FOR LIFE" "zero maintenance", only to clarify later, the 'lifetime' meant 150k km.

it was me that ask.... and according to info, the thai's batt replacement came after 300k km... rm90k is probably of local taxes there

for a 0.8 kwh batt, its ridiculous to cost rm90k, that's like a a6 hybrid 10kwh or xc90 12kwh batt

msia's dealer quoted price of rm30k is inclusive of import tax... can definitely get it cheaper via singapore aka duty free then smuggle in

E250 fuel consumption is around 10.x liter/100km. pure highway can get around 7 liter/100km. I got a pre-owned 2016 edition e local model. service in hap seng around 1k for normal service. the price can be higher if there are other things need to be change etc brake pad, atf oil, aircon filter then price can go up to 3k plus and above. Service is base on 12k interval or 1 year whichever come first. if recon unit service outside might be cheaper
