welp. opening the bottom panel is
even with my plastic prying tool.
be prepared to scratch the bottom panel edges. it's plastic. top is aluminium.
be careful at the sd card slot.
soft metal. i bent it even further. pushed it back in, now it's warped.
i gave up to pop it out entirely. there's enough gap to slot in my m.2 ssd. so in i go.
no screws provided. not that i can screw it in anyway.
if in doubt, cellotape.
ram might need to open the entire bottom.
your 2.5" sata ssd will need to pop open the bottom. good luck.

bios option is sparse. nothing special, can't set new tdp etc. you can turn off the fan and let it kick in when necessary. by default fan is always on.

some testing with intel xtu.
boost is locked to 25W and 28 seconds max. that's it. you can't increase it. after 28 seconds throttle to 15W.
you can still undervolt your cpu.
i'm in the process of finding the stable voltage. -0.090v offset let the cpu hovers around 2.8-3.1GHz at 15W not bad. default settings, it would hover around 2.5-2.7GHz
if you need more power please get gayming pavilion with H series cpu. that is a 35w tdp cpu. probably can get a sustained 4.4GHz with undervolt

i bought while in stock.

however, after doing some analysis with my macro camera lens. (not dedicated macro),
i found out my lcd display is defective.
the green pixel is not firing at the same intensity alternate column.
so windows light blue tiles get horizontal banding.
i've emailed hp to request a lcd replacement today. not even full machine replacement.
lets see what happens.
I've narrowed down the faulty part to be either the lcd driver or maybe just the cable.

it's not noticeable at a distance, i can still see it at arm's length.
and i bought the laptop just for the display.
i'm not gonna settle on this. unless a compensation is involve.
owait, i paid with paypal.
i can complain with them. and i know how that will turn out. buyer always wins if no fraud is involved.

it's super noticeable in the pic, but if you look closely on the top most pixel, the blue is not the same on each pixel.

no, it's alternate column that's not firing. i think it's a defect rather than crap panel.
display model in harvey norman looks fine.
unless they change manufacturer and this is considered normal.
can't tell what lcd model. only shows up as generic panel under windows.

tefal is cheaper and comes with 2 jugs. and removable blade for cleaning.
