Dear /k,

I have 2 questions:
1) I have bought 2 Type C-G (Korea to Malaysia) plug adapter to be use in Korea next month. The question in, can i connect a Malaysia 4 point extension to this plug so i can have 4 power point to use to a single wall socket (to connect to different Malaysia phone chargers)? Coz last time i tried this in France, the extension blown after a while, not sure if that extension is memang rosak or caused by the power voltage incompatibility in France. (which shouldn't be i think since...it's 230V compared to 240V, just 10V difference and both running at same 50Hz). Korea is 220V@60Hz (most phone charger runs at 220-240V and 50/60Hz, so shouldn't be problem either.

2) Korean seems to have lots of cards for transport. Mainly the T-CARD (which acts like touch and go) and the M-PASS (which is like the Rapid Rail Weekly passes). There are also many other cards, dunno what Seoul Pass, City pass and dunno what other pass. So freaking confusing! Why don't they just use 1 like Malaysia! https://www.korea4expats.com/article-tmoney...smart-card.html
Which card is best? rclxub.gif

Extension blown? Extension will not blow even if wrong voltage or frequency.

You have had fuse blown or what?

I dunno. I think something burnt. Then i throw it away liao
Lol.

But the question remains, it should be fine right, if i plug in Malaysia extension to the foreign power point right, since voltage is almost same within tolerance range?

Shouldn't be a problem with an extension cord. Done it before with no problems.

MPASS for tourist in seoul and jeju. Can be used as T-Money as well.

extension is just a connector adapter, it will not blow anything unless it is wired in wrong polarity, which i highly doubt

moar likely the tolerance level of the AC input on the phone charger is veli low leading to a blowout

Extension is just like wire. Don't care the voltage. It is the device that need to be compatible. Nowadays power adapters are wide mouth type. They accept voltage range from 110V~ 250V with no problem. The frequency does not matter much because to small to affect voltage error and devices are not using the frequency from adapter anyway.

The adapter smell probably because the metal socket probably become loose and causing spark or high resistance, thus heats up and produced burn smell.

Well few things u have to check.

Ur device,

Most phone charger is international now. 110V/230V 50/60hz support

The Adapter

Voltage is one thing, Maximum Wattage support is another. if maximum support wattage is 300W but u go use hair dryer 500W. of course will blow la.

Dont worry about extension cord. Treat extension cord like an extension only, most importantly is ur adapter.

Thats why if u buy electronics from oversea, please please please dont buy AC products.
Most DC product these day is able to support 110/220-240V 50/60hz. where else AC is region support

Additional funds can be loaded to MPASS and be used as a Tmoney card to pay for taxis, buses, subways and items at affiliated convenience stores.

Worth it if you are travelling a lot in Seoul. But also depends. I tend to walk a lot and take subway only a few trips a day. In that case, just get a T-Money card.

yes you can bring along an extension to use to single wall socket no problem.
theirs is 220v but many modern electrical has auto switching so nothing to worry about.
but like every electrical extension you have to be aware of the total amps load or else kabloom.
BTW their standard 2 pin socket is not the same as ours.
ours can be used but will be loose.

Their transport card can be used for all bus or lrt.
can buy and reload at convenience stores like 7-eleven.
they can pay you back the balance minus a fee if you do not use finish.

No lah. Bring hair dryer for what!! Mainly only use for handphones and Nintendo switch and also Laptop. Likely Laptop will use the most power (around 150W to 200W i guess?), so i will plug that to its own adapter and not sharing. Thks for info.

Unless you're going very far, it's 1250W per trip now.

As far as I remember, per trip is up to 4 transfers (eg. metro->bus->metro->bus->metro is considered as 1 trip) and under 10km. Over 10km distance you pay a bit more. Each transfer should be done within 30 minutes.

If your 10 bus/subway trips is within 30 minutes each time, you don't pay extra.

Oooh! Like that is one trip?

Means if i take two bus transit to a destination and within 30 minutes i can take next bus, it's count as 1 trip? Wahh! Gooding. Like that i think even fewer trips. Looks like T-money is the way to go! rclxm9.gif
