I got a BP card some time back but rarely used it because I'm not so well-versed with how it works. Care to share some quick tips?

What kind of purchases do you guys use your BP card for?

Not much use for me since I already have a Visa & Mastercard credit card. I guess I'll probably only use it for AA and overseas spend.

If you plan ahead, since this card can be reloaded using another credit card you can earn cashback which otherwise you would not have gotten.

I am also new to BP.
Currently i have few credit cards: m2c, pbb qmc and mbb fcb.
My cc usage per month is on the low side normally <rm500 so I plan to utilize BP for cc cashback and later use the money in BP for big purchase in the future.

The good thing about BP is I can maximize my cashback and later only need to swipe my BP card. So no need to bring multiple cards. Sure i am not going to be rich by doing this but so far its very easy and doesnt consume much of my time.

Tried asking BigPay when we would be getting our wave cards and this was their reply:

QUOTE
If you would like to change now we will need to charge you the replacement fee of RM20. If you can wait till September we will roll out a referral program, so if you refer friends we will give you a free card with tap/wave

I dunno..this seems like a kick in the face to us early supporters. It's either we have to pay or we have to refer even more people before we can get the newer version of the card? I have been referring many people to BigPay but I guess that's not enough. If they want to impose a charge for wave cards they should do it for all BigPay users...this seems a bit unfair to early adopters.

anybody tried to write in to bigpay to allow auto debit on their card? I realized auto debit transactions ending with 'rps' cannot go through.

We were already be informed about there will be charge/free replacement later while first day BP Jonathan announced the paywave feature here. But the "another referral program in September" is new and interesting.

I see..was there an explanation as to why? Credit card companies replaced our credit cards for free when wave cards came out. From the way I see it, it's quite unfair:

Early supporters: RM20 (Initial top up) + RM20 (Wave card charge)
New users: RM20 (Initial top up) + RM0 (Wave card charge)

I get that they want to increase their number of users, but forcing early supporters to go through their 'referral program' to get what they are giving for free to new users doesn't sound like a good way to go.

Early supporters have already received the benefits from using BIgPay for a while now. I think the majority of readers here would have earned much more than RM20 from using BigPay, whether through referral, through cashback on reload with other cards (there's a reason the OP lists which cards have been reported to work) or through exchange rate benefit.

Some, like myself, have benefited from all 3, definitely more than RM20 worth each.

So it's simplistic to say 'kick in the face', especially with (in my opinion) unnecessary changes like paywave. I'd rather they charge for this than they charge for other things (like CC reload for which they're still subsidising us).

This is only the second phase! There'll be a third phase, if you can be a bit more patient smile.gif And that should make it fair to all existing users.

I couldn't proceed to OTP page when reloading BP account with Maybank card and it showed "Top-up Failed". Is it system-wide down for reloads for now?

Just signed up for bigpay. Got top up error too after entering the OTP number. But seemed like the payment went through since I was then notified my card pending printing.

Just saw this comment by BP on their FB:

CODE
BigPay Hey Adrian Oh! Thanks for the feedback. Just to make everyone aware, we did NOT block Boost! They may have changed their acceptance of certain top up methods (BigPay as one of them). Best to confirm with Boost if they've done so.
