because it is better to have cash on hand. I go with a group. example if we need to buy entrance ticket, then one person pay first, the rest pay him a cash.
or sometimes we go to 7-11 buy small items. takkan also using BP card?
and, I did read some post here. Some shop doesn't accept BP card or they may have additional charges.
*
If you are based on Seoul City or other City , most of them accept card

My travel just finished from 2~12th in Busan, Seoul and some small area like jeonju and gyeonju.
They even accept less than 1,000 won using card (7-11, CU store, etc).

For them easy also cause just plug in the card into device, straight process.

Only thing u need to notice is, make sure ur phone install with BigPay App.
Due to our card dun have name printed on it, duty free shop asked us to prove that BP card is ours.
So i show the App with my name and "freeze card" that tab with BP last 4 digit.

Overall, using BigPay in korea isnt an issue except certain market places where they accept cash only.

I did read some post here. Some shop doesn't accept BP card or they may have additional charges
I dun see any reason they charge additional hmm.gif they treat it as CC only.

But it's your choice also. I'm happy that i take this challenge to use BP card all the way during the trip.

I only brought 200k won for this 11 days trip btw sweat.gif

One side note: The app will instant show "pending" figure of exchanged rate and from there, you may ask ur group to pay you MYR if u prefer biggrin.gif Just do some math to divide.

thank you all the bros who provide such useful info. I'm going to seoul & busan, since in korea can pay by card anywhere, then i will use direct use it. then, the exchange rate might be slightly different daily lor.

Put some cash in wallet just in cash biggrin.gif

Yes. We’re definitely catching up nicely. However, due to the still rather unstable internet here in Malaysia, very often dealing in cash is still much faster and it really shows in fast moving night market where a certain stalls has also started to accept either Boost or TnG.
Agreed. I’ve been in a few incidents that my mobile data either wasn’t working or really slow but I wanted to pay with FavePay or Boost and it held up the line. The most recent incident was last month at Mid-Valley Megamall Watsons store. I wanted to pay with Boost but the line was so slow the app kept loading. Luckily I had another phone with me and the other phone was on a different telco and seemed to be working fine. So I immediately did a hotspot to borrow the data. The whole process still took a while. Cashier did not bother to ask if I can pay with other payment method. She probably knew I was up to something, like I was aiming for extra cash back or something.
No worries and have fun in South Korea. Like I mentioned earlier, if you intend to buy something from traditional market or buy street food in Myeongdong or Namdaemun, you do need some cash. The way to get the next exchange rate is normally to buy USD here in Malaysia and use it to buy KRW in Myeongdong. There are many money exchange booths in Myeongdong and the rate is probably the best in the whole of Korea. So don’t bother to look to exchange your money elsewhere. Just compare the rates in Myeongdong and buy your KRW there.

I can’t really advice you how much USD you should bring. But do note street foods in Myeongdong are geared towards tourists, hence everything is overpriced. Head over to Namdaemeun just right across the street from
Myeongdong (same row as Lotte Young) and almost everything is like 50% cheaper.

My this year trip (5th) totally avoid myeongdong already, haha..

Technically that place are overprice doh.gif

im just curious compare to bigpay VS maybank credit card when comes to POINTS reward, which one is better? hmm
*
When maybank combine with bigpay biggrin.gif Win-Win

Gold : RM1 = 1 treat points
BigPay : RM20 = 1 BIG Points

RM500 Scenario:
500 TP = RM1
25BP = RM0.25

Same charge and no extra charge then is good news. rclxms.gif

If individual transactions is not recorded in app (within a week) then does the balance still deducted after payment made? hmm.gif
I guess transaction on your side have to wait few days for the status: Pending changed to Settle.
It is indeed. cry.gif

StandChart Card have annual fee. If possible don't stick to one card. You can always apply for other card like PB Quantum, good card. icon_rolleyes.gif

I must say, Quantum really is the best card right now.

Consider the 0% 12m Flexi

yesterday topup my bigpay with HSBC amanah, i purchase good from amazon with bigpay via paypal. the exchange rate is really good deal. i would say very close to xe currency rate.

The regret part is my hsbc amanah only offer 0.2% cashback. will terminate it to get better cash back for bigpay.

It's still better than nothing Lol ..
