Hi guys,

Few days ago, i lost my phone at work but luckily after 2-3 hours of searching, managed to find it back. However, that 2-3 hours was really super panic for me. We all see articles online about how to track phones and stuff but I never really pay attention until I lost my phone myself. So 1st thing I did was to google "how to track lost phone" or "what to do if phone is lost". Mostly talk about logging into google or samsung account etc.

I don't know about you guys but in this age, I'm using things like password manager which needs 2PA with my phone. So I can't even remember my password. Even if I do have my password, logging into google also I put 2PA which will send sms to my phone. Without the phone really like u lost your life. So anyone similar like me using password manager and 2PA security? What to do when phone is lost? Totally cannot access anything.

I think he meant 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) which is sent to registered phone, right? Not telco?

There's a few types of 2FA.. some uses certain apps, or can send code to other numbers or something...

No no you are correct. Google Authenticator app tie to phone. Authy is not.

With Authy’s multiple-device functionality, your 2FA tokens automatically sync to any new device you authorize. And, if a device is lost, stolen, or retired, you can deauthorize it from any authorized device just as quickly.

My friend has experience lost her iPhone, she trace her iPhone at one location and it must be stolen by someone, she immediately report police, police tell her:"we cannot help you, GPS is not evidence, we cannot suddenly go and check someone." Story ended.

Authy is 3rd party app? U use it? Like gmail, the 2PA is automatic to your phone number right? How to set to manage by 3rd party apps?

This is sad .... i really cannot imagine if i lose my phone ... headache to the max

Anyone got experience lost and found back their phone ? Btw I say lost ah, not stolen. If stolen by someone then confirm 1st thing they do is format then everything is gone la. If misplace then still got chance to find back

To trace your phone, Google Location Services must be enabled.

You can track it by accessing the Android Device Manager, and choosing to emit sound, lock it or reformat.

2PA. Can also register your email as alternative for retrieving lost password? And may be doing it the old fashion way, write it down somewhere?

For lost phone locating. I think Samsung account seems better than Google's.

Yes. On condition the Location is switched on if you want the latest current location. And you can do the other stuff like locking the phone or ringing the phone or wiping the phone etc remotely.

I'm using the android phone all the way, if really lost it, I will try android device manager from google first, should view the current location of my phone on a map, if the phone is dead or off, it might show the “Last Seen” location. If I don't think will get it back just set up a passcode and even erase all data on my phone or else just block the sim card.

Hurmm, touch wood.. usually just misplace somewhere sweat.gif

yeah that's the thing. Local police couldn't help us with that, but what i can say is just take extra careful of your belongings whenever you're in public places like lrt etc.. there's more and more snatchers nowadays.
