Oh yes. I do use baby oil to remove stubborn make up sometimes, though I figure that if I'm going to do it daily I might need to get better oil like olive or almond.
So what do you recommend for the moisturizer in the market that is good and won't hurt the pocket much?
I am still learning, so pardon me and my questions.
Baby oil to remove make up? Now that's creative
But why is olive oil or almond oil better? There're many different oils in the market, each has its own unique strengths to cater to different needs & wants. Just take note, cosmetic grade oils are better for skincare, not food grade oils. Food grade is cheap & less suitable for face, e.g. try compare between cosmetic grade olive oil & food grade olive oil from the supermarket.
There're few types of moisturizer depending on your skin conditions & your preferences. Most value for money ones are the pure ingredients e.g. 100% pure olive oil, argan oil, almond oil, shea butter & many more because these are what the creams & the gels are made off. Just 1 drop is enough to cover half the face.
Each oils has different properties too for instance:
- I personally feel argan oil is more for matured skin cause it's richer & more moisturizing.
- Rose hips oil seems to be getting popular but the problem is there are a mixed variety of it in our market & people don't know how to tell a good one from a lousy one
- Tamanu oil has amazing wound healing properties, making it ideal for those with acne or pimples
- Coconut oil is quite comedogenic, so it could clog up your pores - good for body but be careful for face
- Pomegranate oil is a light oil that's rich in antioxidant & surprisingly it has a sweet scent.
There are many more oils out there lol, so take your time to slowly discover them
But some people felt that pure oils are too oily for them, so other alternatives are gels based moisturizers or cream based. These are basically oils that has been mixed with something else already to create a different texture. Cream based ones are the most common whereas gel is the lightest moisturizers. Whichever it is, just lookout for what oils are used in those moisturizers cause that's the ingredient that actually moisturizes the skin.
To hydrate the skin, the most popular ingredient now is hyaluronic acid & glycerin. Other common ingredient that can hydrate is honey, aloe vera, floral waters (hydrosols) & of course drink a lot of water.
