Hello everyone
I am a new owner of a CX-5 2.2D FWD.
Have been reading some of the posts here which is quite informative.
Can I ask - is there any form of insulation that we can do on the bonnet to reduce the knocking sound comin out of the diesel engine?
I mean, it doesn't bother me while am driving it...but when am out of the car with the engine running it's a lil annoying 😏
Any input is welcome...thank you 😀

QUOTE(voncrane @ Oct 10 2018, 05:08 PM) My advice? get used to it.. Cuz as you say, NVH inside is great.. Though you could put your funds into better NVH on the inside.. So no matter what insulation you do for the engine bay, you still can't block that grill in the front for air intake and cooling. So sound will still escape from there. Be like moi, I've grown to enjoy the sound.. My SO too, says she knows when I'm around to pick her up.. Cuz she looks up expecting to see a lorry and there's none, just a sexy looking beast on the road.. Lol..liked the last line! 🤣 Noted on the input tho...the grill is definitely a factor... Read abt additives that can help. Any thots on dat?

QUOTE(faizal3178 @ Oct 10 2018, 08:52 PM) I think Mazda's diesel engine is one of the quietest diesel engine around if not the quietest... so if you want it to be really quiet then i think you're looking for the wrong engine tbh... better get hybrid or electric engines.... 😅 I already got the 2.2D buddy. Just trying to c if there are ways to reduce the engine noise. If dont have den no issue 😉
