Hello seniors, I'm a new member here. I'm very much interested to buy the 2020 Mazda CX-5 High spec. Currently they're giving rebates on insurance: 3,600 for the first year and 2,400 on the second year. My question is, is it advisable to buy new car during this cmco period or should I wait a bit later to see if they have better promotions? As for loans, bank islam is offering at 2.35% pa for 9 yrs with 5% dpayment. Do you think this is a good offer?

Please help. Thanks very much! biggrin.gif

before that rarely we will get any form of rebate, so is on you to judge smile.gif

seriously? wow... so this should be acceptable if not good. The Mazda SA did mentioned that Mazda hardly gives any kind of rebates. Also I was wondering do they offer extra gifts such as full tank fuel, umbrella etc. should I expect such things from them?

full tank yes but unsure about merchandise. what do you get for merchandise?

i should be collecting the car DCB this week. anything i should inspect during collection?
*
hahaha just wondering if they're kind enough to give say... an umbrella? I find it rather odd as we, the consumer spend hundreds of thousands of ringgit to purchase a car but when it comes to freebies, these dealers can be quite stingy. If I buy engine oil, I can easily get trolley bag, umbrella or even t-shirt. And this just cost me RM100++. Perhaps I'm expecting much and my comparisons are irrelevant but I don't see why not tongue.gif

the current SA I'm dealing with is very passive. I have to push her around... kind of feeling tired already. rclxub.gif

Firstly.. Congratz on joining the club... thumbup.gif  TLDR...Just relax and enjoy the ride. As for merch, got the usual... full tank, Cig lighter powered Tyre inflation machine (which I tried using once..Waited so long.. End up just drove to the Petrol station less than a minute away and pumped all four tyres in less time.. haha), emergency med kit, some discount coupons for tinting (didn't use those either), and iirc, a torchlight? Unsure.. But yeah.. You might get an umbrella if you ask.

Secondly, you are on the right track... Check EVERYTHING..But this would work better IF the car has not been registered in your name yet. Then you really can literally turn it upside down... Like suggested, make sure there's ample lighting and check the paint over proper. DCB is prone to show swirls, mark it up. Anything you don't feel comfortable about? Voice your concerns on the spot and ensure they replace with brand new one or simply arrange for a different vehicle. You can even request for whole body respray.. It's your money.. Just don't be an "a-hole" about it.. That is the extreme version. If you aren't the type? Then better you don't look for faults, cuz if you go looking? you'll definitely find one..All brands and models are prone to this, even hand crafted wait 3 years for production cars..haha.. This WILL ruin your new car experience.  sweat.gif

Now, since you mention collecting..probably means the car has already being registered in your name. So not much table flipping you can do.. whistling.gif .. But you can still inspect the car with said torchlight and refuse to sign collection docs till you are satisfied. With any luck, you'll only find one or 2 things amiss.. At that point, they'll be quite eager to please and will listen to your demands. But once you sign the docs, collect and drive off? You become at their mercy.. Still can flip table.. Just need a bigger table to flip..  laugh.gif

Very good and informative indeed. Thanks so much! biggrin.gif

From what I understand, you get both the insurance rebate and the 6 years warranty and free service, do check with your SA though to confirm
*
my SA told me the one before 14.06 is new price + 3.6k insurance rebate, after that no more insurance rebate but your free service and warranty become 6 yrs.

Yea, stopping short of the 2.2D and the Turbo which are the flagship models - wife isn't keen on the diesel...  sweat.gif

I see, seems equipment wise is the same for the 2.0 H and 2.5 H... Yea, the 19" tyres... Hahaha looks nice and price also 'nice' when it comes to replacing them...

Need to convince her to think about it again cos I did mention she doesn't need that much power in the daily commute to work and back and asides from the occasional outstation drive via highway, the 2.0 ought to be just nice; after factoring in the costs like fuel/tyre replacements/etc.

Thanks for the feedback bro.

Hopefully able to join the CX5 gang soon - although not my own ride. laugh.gif

yes, i've been wondering about it too. why the cut off on the 14th? i did mention to my SA that conti car dealers like Mercedes and VW are keeping their rebates in addition to the sales tax waive given by the govt. I don't understand the need for them to retract the existing offer as the sales tax waive means they can claim back those taxes and will not interfere with their profit. By keeping those rebates with the tax waive will only bring more customers. but now I think most potential buyers will stop short and wait for better offers once these car dealers become desperate.

if that is the case, definitely the extra year of service and warranty. Plus I think might be worth taking your time over the purchase as during these uncertain times I see auto makers becoming more and more desperate so might be better deals out there in the coming months
*
I could use the rebate actually, since cash is king for me during this uncertain time sweat.gif

and my 15 year old car, I can't really push him that much. Now that we're back to normal at work, things are getting frenzy with the interstate travel coming in.

I wish I could wait till the end of the year but don't have a choice now haihh

I'm quite disappointed with the Japanese car dealers here... the sales tax waive is not affecting their income/profit, so why should they retract their existing rebates/offers? Conti cars however keep their offers and introduce the tax waive on top of that. If only their products are less expensive to maintain and reliable I would have gone straight to them.

its your call obviously, just have a hunch they'll get more desperate and thus may lead to better discounts in the months ahead.

And about Japanese car dealers, unfortunately true as most are run by cronies and are mass market models, they know they'll still sell so are of course trying their hand at squeezing as much as possible, good selling models tax rebates are held back as much as possible as evident by P2's pricelist, expect the rest to follow suit
*
Yeah.. I wish I could wait 'till the end of the year for more discounts though..

Indeed looking at the tax rebates, it's clearly evident that the conti car dealers are better at luring the potential buyers than these Japs dealers. Perhaps they know they still have the upper hand amongst Malaysian, thus using it even during this hard times. I hope they'll get to taste their own medicine soon.

I was wondering about this free services offered by Mazda which does not include ATF and fuel filter change. Should all the owners file similar complaints then? Make it big like how VW owners barked in FB during the DSG saga some years back. If it's within our rights let's fight together.

Hi there, Im a new user and also quite a noob user of a CX-5.    I'd like to know how to activate the camera function when cars drive too near to me.  Sometimes the camera is activated and sometimes not.  So wondering if it has anything to do with driving speed (to activate this function).  Thanks.

May I know if this is the Blind Spot Monitoring?

BSM is a yellow warning light on your side mirror when there is obstacle at blind spot, it will give a warning beep if you try to change lane.
nothing to do with camera.

Congrats bro!

I'm sure you're proud of your purchase!

What are your plans now?? TLC? Haha.

The car has some swirls marks upon collection and would best have a nice spa session [whether DIY or outside] to bring out that insane red shine. brows.gif
*
Thanks mate ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ very ecstatic about it lol I was so nervous waiting for it to arrive at my doorstep ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yep TLC it is! Iโ€™ve already done my coating with Sierra Glow (the cheapest option btw ๐Ÿ˜ฌ), tint with 3M and installed dashcam.

As per inspection no swirl mark since I ask my SA to do the coating for me haha. All is well ๐Ÿ˜

Just to share, Iโ€™m residing in Alor Setar, Kedah and Iโ€™m buying this from PJ branch (City Ruby) as per recommendation from a fellow friend here. My SA is phenomenal. And yes, I ask him to deliver the car to my doorstep via single trailer (I pay for it of course haha)

My alor setar SA wasnโ€™t helping or accommodating and resulting in me turning to another one, albeit quite a distance away. Now Iโ€™m still waiting for my deposit refund from the Alor Setar branch.

Iโ€™m so glad to finally join this shark family ๐Ÿ˜
