I fully understand the thought process Mazda lay out for their navigation system, which is to encourage the driver to pay full attention hands on wheels, look forward, plan the drive etc etc. But in Malaysia, there are times, you already on the way, example highway or already driving and suddenly you want to check the traffic with Waze. It happens more often than not, this kind of situations on PLUS highway etc. You don't automatically have Waze running, but already driving and suddenly encounter bad traffic or road conditions. It is not easy to find alternative routes with the knob (I guess). And with Waze especially when you already have Carplay ON, you won't be able to see maps but only able to see simplifed WORDs and big text prompts on the phone. So what you have to do is exit waze app on carplay (use knob), ask the wife / copilot to execute the search on waze and then re-choose the route / destination and THEN launch waze again on Carplay.
*
You can search directly on the phone while it is connected to the carplay or use voice recognition or use the knob once you get to use with it

Wanted to change my Civic FE as well , already having Tuk sound . Maybe to a used CX5 . I wonder how much the bank can let go for early settlement , currently mine is about 1 year paid , 130k balance and 110k principle .

second hand price for civic FE now is very bad (Thanks to Honda for giving so big discounts for new FE), as for car loan i think the early settlement discount doesnt apply like housing loan..

My FE v spec 2022 got quote 100k only for your reference.

currently also looking at cx5, CX30 and Mazda 3. (Yeah totally different car category laugh.gif )

Yeah agreed there's still some scenarios where a touch screen is more intuitive (not surprising since AC and AA are designed based on touch ux in the first place)

After 2 days with my car, I kinda figured it out already. Just need to know how and which direction to rotate (to switch icons, options), and when to push the knob left or right (to switch sections like from maps to spotify)

But typing in destination is really a pain with the knob lol. No getting around this. Only way is the method above (search in phone first)

Foresee many top up required, especially if u took 9 years loan. Plus now, brand new give up to 5 figure rebates. Iiwu, find 3rd party workshop specialist to repair the rack with improvement better than burn money, trade in with lost.

Would like to check does the electronic parking brake/EPB auto switch on after switched off the engine?

Mine macam need to manually turn on the EPB each time after switching off the engine.

I don't encountered this in my previous car.

yeah my EPB is like how i left it before i turn off the engine. If the EPB is release when i start it will be on release mode. If my EPB is engaged it will be the same. The issue is with the auto hold thou but i m not a fan of auto hold only occasionally using it.

Turn on auto hold when you go about driving. When you release the seatbelt, the EPB will engage. This is the closest thing since the EPB doesn't get engaged when you shift the gear to P.

Hello everyone, I have gotten my CX-5.
First proper mod - Hacked the touchscreen and now I have all speed touch screen.
Its just a 3 min job and only requires a USB drive. I'm tempted to go full AIO but tbh I already have Carplay AI Box that runs full Android...not feeling the need right now.

First impressions;
Storage space is really lacking. Legit among Myvi 2005, Peugeot 208, Honda Civic 2022 this is the car with smallest arm rest and glovebox storage and the cover does not support my elbows. What gives....?
I am discarding 70% of the junk that I have from my old car....which is technically smaller.

Mazda lent me a CX-8 2.2D high for a few days, and boy did I get used to the HUD. It is a game changer in terms of road awareness. How I wish I never learnt about 400Nm torque and HUD.

More gripes - the boot does not have any way to open it except for the button...hmmm.

CTS - The steering aid is very very mild, in the internet there is a bragging sheet about how much torque / aid you get from the lane keep. This will surely be at bottom 1%.

Positives - very steady in turns, I feel the GVC at every turn of the steering.
Gearbox feels smooth to me, I come from CVT which drones, this is back to AT feels, but still, nothing spectacular.
NVH is really step up from Civic. Like Continental step up.

Ok la, all I want is a reliable car and I hope this is it.

Just based on many user feedback from CX5 fb group, better change the atf after certain mileage interval, 40k/50k km where's Bermaz sold it as seal for life. Based on reading on FB, those who done ATF change per interval don't have any gb issue. And there are cases of owner get gb warranty above 100k km when they did not do ATF change, but better play safe cz black & white, Bermaz only cover it until 100k km/ 5 years only

My salesman also drives a recent CX-5 and he swear and triple swear with witness present that in Bayan Lepas and Juru mazda service center we can request for ATF change without any impact to warranty in house.
He also does this on his 40/50k km interval.

Which spec you got bro?
I have said this many times and will say many times again, the Mazda 3 LB is the sexiest Japanese car alive. I pass by a gunmetal ignite everyday on my drive home and I wipe my drool everytime.

My team mate is even looking to trade his FE RS for an S70!

We live in weird times.
